Keira Knightley may be a busy girl, but she still has time for Mother. Privately and professionally.
The Oscar-nominated actress has insisted that space be cleared in her hectic schedule so she can star in a movie based on a screenplay written by her mother, award-winning playwright Sharman Macdonald.
At one point, producers for the picture, The Best Time Of Our Lives, wanted to shoot the film this summer but alas, Keira had back-to-back projects and no window could be found.
It was even feared that she was so busy she might not be able to appear in her mother's film at all.
But the pair are incredibly close and Keira demanded that room be made in her schedule for Mum.
Now, I can reveal, Keira will go before cameras in January to shoot The Best Time Of Our Lives.
The picture is based on a terrifying incident in 1945 involving Dylan Thomas, his wife Caitlin and another couple - Vera Phillips, a friend of the poet's from his Swansea school days, and her husband William Killick.
After a clash at a pub in New Quay, Killick - using a machine gun - fired at the Thomas home and threatened to hurl a grenade through a window.
Ms Macdonald's script explains the complex background behind the shooting, which left the celebrated poet and his wife shaken but unhurt. Keira will portray Caitlin.
The actress has just completed work on the love story Silk and next month films Atonement for director Joe Wright.
After that, she and other cast members finish work on the third episode of the Pirates Of The Caribbean film series (dailymail.co.uk)
no-one else could have played the part in Shar's film, i'm really looking forward to it
