She slowly lowered her eyes, feeling a tiny amused smile crossing her lips as she listened at the door. With a gentle hand, she knocked two times on the door, a soft giggle escaping her lips.
"You okay in there?" Keira's soft giggling voice was heard from outside the bathroom door.
She stood there, wearing a slightly cream covered costume, smiling from ear to ear as she heard the water running in the bathroom.
"Depends what your definition of 'okay in there' is," Orlando's voice was heard behind the door and Keira held back a bout of laughter.
"Are you decent at least?" she smiled, subtly asking for permission to walk in.
"If a guy with whipped cream all over his body doesn't scare you then sure, come on in," he said and then bit his lower lip, shooting a glance at the closed door.
Keira, on the other side, raised an eyebrow at the sound of his words. Orlando held his breath, scrambling his brain for a witty thing to add to that last part.
"Can I just rephrase that?" he asked, a boyish, embarrassed grin taking over his features as he tried to remove some of the cream from his thick mop of curly chocolate hair.
"Not that it's going to make a difference," Keira laughed, opening the door and freely walking in. "I've got the image imprinted in my mind now," she teasingly said, stopping dead in her tracks at the sight of his, indeed, cream covered body. "Wow, that's some handy work there," she chuckled and he narrowed his eyes on her.
"Yeah, one of my costars got carried away..." he replied in that same teasing voice, throwing a little cream her way.
Keira ducked, pointing a finger at him, almost warning him that he shouldn't be messing with her at this point. She had proven to be very handy with the cream.
"I didn't see you run for the hills, mister Bloom," she said, running her hands under the water and reaching out to grab a chunk of his hair gently.
"Yeah, well, it's not every day I get the entire cream treatment by some gorgeous madam," he grinned, bending his head down as she tried to get some of the remaining cream out of his hair.
Keira snickered at the mentioned of gorgeousness and simply dismissed it.
"Alright, Or, either you get down or I have to get up," she said and Orlando looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Oh, get your dirty little mind out of the gutter, you know exactly what I mean," she playfully hit his shoulder with her wet hands.
Without waiting for his answer, Keira hopped on top of the sink counter and grabbed one of the towels. Orlando couldn't help but laugh at the easiness and playfulness with which she jumped up and sat on the counter, cleaning his hair as if he was a little child who needed his hair combed before his first day of school.
He couldn't help but stare at her with that familiar sparkle in his eyes as she meticulously and amusedly proceeded to take some of the whipped cream out of his hair. Never mind that she had some on her, she was intent on getting it out of his hair apparently. And never mind that tons of people on the set were probably wondering where on earth they were at the moment. At her hands urging, he leaned his hands against the counter, on each side of her legs, and bent his head down a little more.
Keira couldn't help but laugh when she noticed how his back was also covered with cream. Yep, she thought, this particular costume is going to need some major cleaning up.
"You know your costar....that who got a little carried away?" she sheepishly asked.
"Yeah, what about her?" Orlando laughed, his head still down.
"Oh I like her!" Keira exclaimed with a proud giggle.
"Oh you do huh?" he glanced up, his eyes laughing right along with her.
"What? You don't?" she raised an amused eyebrow and stared into his eyes, almost challengingly.
They stayed like that, staring at one another, with Keira lowering the towel just a little behind his head, unconsciously holding it around his neck. she swallowed hard as she found herself locked in a stare that spoke louder than words. she could feel his forearms brushing against her knees as he leaned a bit more forward. Something in her head was screaming at her to stop this right there. Say something witty. Crack a smile, girl. MOVE!!!!
But her head had left the building and her heart was now racing. His eyes bore into hers, and as he bit his lower lip in anticipation of what would logically come, she felt herself melt under his gaze.
Orlando held his breath, feeling the heat of her eyes on him and the feel of her hands holding the towel on each of his shoulders. Unconsciously, he found himself lifting his head closer to hers, never breaking eye contact. Oh man, look away, he kept telling himself. Turn around. Laugh!
But the inner voices yelling at him soon were hushed by the realization that, unlike many times before, SHE wasn't moving away either.
Slowly, Keira lowered her face towards him, and she noticed his eyes moving from her eyes to her lips. the intensity of the moment reached a new level as he felt her breath hanging over his lips, softly caressing his skin with its warmth. His heart skipped a beat, and he moved even closer, their lips now millimeters apart.
Orlando closed his eyes, readying himself for the soft touch of her l....
BANG! BANG! BANG!!!
The loud resounding knock on the door made them both jump back, and just as the door flew open, Keira jumped off the counter, straightening her jacket and clearing her throat.
"Hey, how's the cream thi..." Johnny cheerfully spoke, barging in, and then stopping dead in his tracks, seeing a still messy Orlando and a very flushed Keira. "Hello," He grinned from ear to ear, looking back and forth between Orlando and Keira, who had fallen into a very unusual and hilarious - at least for Johnny - silence.
"Hey," "Hello," Keira and Orlando both said at the same time, quickly glancing at one another and then back at a smiling Johnny.
"Am I interrupting something?" Johnny asked, faking innocence.
"Naah," Keira quickly said.
"Nooo," Orlando shrugged.
"Nope."
"Why do you ask?"
"What would you be interrupting?"
Keira and Orlando's sentences fell one after the other so quickly that Johnny couldn't help but let out a muffled laugh.
"Ooo-kay," He said pointing towards the meeting room. "Well, when you two are done, you've got some family and friends wanting to wish you a happy birthday out there," he said, shaking his head still at the sight of Keira and Orlando.
"Okay," Orlando replied, swallowing back the little nervous lump in his throat.
Johnny exited the large bathroom and closed the door behind him, leaving Keira and Orlando in a slightly awkward silence. They stayed without speaking for the longest time, until both began to apologize and dismiss their almost-actions at the same time.
Keira laughed, one of those nervous fake laughs while Orlando dismissed it, obviously not meaning a word he was saying.
"So, I guess we should just get out there, then..." Orlando managed to say, staring at Keira, who was still standing near the counter, while he almost had his back against the door.
"Yeah," she let out in a breathless fashion.
"Alright," he repeated, his head yelling at his arse to move instead of just standing there staring at her.
"Okay," she repeated after a short silence.
But neither of them seemed willing to obey or even listen to whatever it is they were saying. they stared at each other for the longest time, an intensity building up inside of them. And as if pushed over the edge, Keira just launched her body forward, grabbed each side of his face and let her lips land on his in one of the longest, most passionate kisses he'd even been given.
It didn't take him long to respond, closing his eyes and lowering his head, melting into the kiss. Keira sighed into the warmth of his lips and Orlando let out a little throaty sound that almost made her laugh. If it hadn't been for the fact that she was so lost into the kiss, she probably would have.
And just as quickly as the kiss had begun, it ended. Breathless, Keira pulled back, swallowing down difficultly as she stared into his stunned eyes. Her flushed face, in that instant, had never looked so beautiful to him and he literally craved more of what she'd just given him. He sucked in a deep breath, and as though realization of what they'd just done settled on them, they just stared in silence.
"Well," Keira then cleared her throat. "I just...you know..." she said, swallowing back her nervousness and remaining passion as she stared deep into his eyes, trying to act as casual as she possibly could. "Happy birthday," she nervously smiled.
"Uh," he cleared his throat, still feeling the taste of her lips on his. "Thanks," he said, mentally kicking himself for that lame response.
"You're welcome."
"Okay."
"Alright."
"Yeah..."
"Happy birthday," she repeated, the two of them obviously having no absolute idea what they were saying at all.
Orlando saw her take a slow step forward and he mentally restrained himself from kissing her one more time, seeing the smile crossing her lips.
"Is that a Knightley thing?" Orlando asked in a sexy voice. "Is that how you wish everybody Happy Birthday or am I just lucky?" his seducing voice made its way to her and she smiled.
"Well," she attempted a cool and controlled demeanor. "Not just Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas too," She smiled, walking passed him, shooting him the sexiest glance ever as she walked out of the bathroom.
Orlando stood there, a huge grin imprinted on his face.
"How many days 'til Christmas?!" he called out, with a satisfied smile glue to his lips.
Keira laughed to herself, walking away from the bathroom with a flushed yet very satisfied face.
"Way too many..." she sighed to herself, shaking her head, that smile permanently placed on her face.
