Disclaimer: I don’t own anything here except for the character Rachel. Jules and any other character. Once again If your homophobic, and you are against female/female parings, don’t read this fic.
Synopsis: This story takes place three months after Jess and Jules traveled to America with the rest of their soccer team. I really don’t want give to much away. So read it for your self
The atmosphere outside was cloudy and a dreary like blue. The rain clouds were gathering, and was about to shower the earth.
Juliette Paxton looked up at the sky as storm clouds were about to form. “how fitting” she thought. The weather was a perfect analogy to her current mood right now. It has been 3 months since she came from her home town in Teddington London(I think that is where she is from) and the transaction has not been a smooth one.
Everyone that she cared about she left behind, her room mate moved out due to “awkward circumstances”. Which is the best way to put what happened to her and Jess. And if that wasn’t enough, there have been rumors spreading about her around the entire football(soccer) team. She can’t even go to class or to the cafeteria with out people looking at her awkwardly. What started to be an experience of a life time, turned into a nightmare.
“Life sucks” she said to her self as she kicked a can while walking down the side walk. She had to get out of that dorm of hers. Everything in that room, reminded her of Jess in some odd way, pictures, the wall paper color, everything reminded her of the young Indian girl.
She though that maybe a walk outside would clear her head. So far it hasn’t helped. She noticed a peculiar looking record store above her head. “Sonic Boom Records” the sign read above her peaked her curiosity. Deciding there is nothing better to do she casually walked into the store.
The store was a clean looking average record store with numerous punk/rock/alt bands hanging on the walls. From alt bands such as Green Day, Metallica, Jimmy Eat World, Linkin Park to classic bands such as Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Kiss, and Aerosmith.
Juliette looked around the store and some of the customers. It was definitely an interesting store. There was a young girl about her age reading, dressed in a pair of black jeans with a brown leather studded belt and a red Linkin Park sleeveless t-shirt. She was reading SPIN magazine at the register. She must be about 17 or 18 years of age. She had a mixture of dark brown hair with some blonde high lights inside them put up in a pony tale. Her head was gently moving to the music that was playing in her headphones.
‘She’s cute’ Jules thought to her self as she walked around the record store. She noticed a mid 20’s man dressed in leather pants and a “Black Sabbath” t-shirt listening to some sample Music in his head phones. She assumed it must be some kind of heavy metal music he was listening to due to the hard head banging he was doing. Figuring it was a little much for her she slowly walked away from the head banging maniac.
Figuring she was out of place she was just about to leave.
“Excuse me. Do you need any help?” The young girl at the register asked just as Jules was about to leave. Jules turned to the direction of the voice and was greeted by the most beautiful blue eyes she has ever seen. Not to mention the most beautiful girl that she has e seen since she has been in the US.
“Oh no. I’m fine..I kind of feel out of place.” She said timidly her thick British accent cutting the air. She looked away nervously.
“Oh that’s BS. No one is out of place here. Are you looking for something in particular?”
“Not to sure really. This is the first time I’ve been in here.” Jules replied nervously looking at the CD’s on the rack. “I guess something that I can relate to…especially with the way I’m feeling now”
“Well what are ya feelin?” the young lady asked as she twirled the piece of gum that was in her mouth.
“Question is, what aren’t I feeling? I guess It’s a little of everything”<br>
“Ahhh the angst riddled sadness feeling…trust me I’ve been there” the young girl said as she came up front from the counter. “This is the perfect place for you then.”
She began to look through the CD for a particular CD reading off band names as she went through them one by one. “ah here we go” The young cashier said with triumph as she picked up a CD from the rack. Juliette stared at the CD cover with Curiosity.
“Something Corporate?” Jules raised her brow. “I never heard of them.”
“There not really a popular band. They just kind of have a small Cult Following. But trust me, this is the music that’s right for you especially with the mood you are currently in.” Jules looked down at the CD cover and wondered weather or not that she should spend money on a band she never heard of, but something about the covered captivated her, it drew her in.
“Here listen. There on my iPod right now.” The young lady took Jules’s hand and lead her to the counter and gave her, the pair of head phones that was attached to the small white mp3 player.
“This is my favorite part of the song. You got to listen to this.” Jules was a little hesitant on picking up the headphones.
“Go on, they won’t hurt you.” The cashier said. Jules reluctantly put the head phones on. As soon as she did a wave of guitar rifts and piano tunes filled her ears as she began to listen to the music inside. It was almost as if the music was turning her mood into a much more positive one.
Maybe when your hair gets darker,
Maybe when your eyes get wide,
Maybe when the walls are smaller
There will be more space
Juliette began to slowly move her head to the sound of the alternative beat. She closed her eyes as she became absorbed into the music.
Maybe when I'm not so tired,
Maybe you could step inside
Maybe when I look for things that
I cant replace, I cant replace
I cant replace.
She began humming to the words and chorus as she listened. A smile crept across the store clerk’s face as she felt happy helping out the young British blonde girl.
If you could be my punk rock princess,
I would be your garage band king.
You could tell me why you just don’t fit in,
And how you're going to be something.
If I could be your first real heartache,
I would do it over again.
If you could be my punk rock princess,
I would be your heroine.
Jules removed the head phones from her ears and handed them back to the young dark haired lady.
“Wow..” were the first words that came to Jules’s mind.
“I know. Pretty deep huh?” The brunette finally said to her.
“I still don’t know…I mean I don’t think A CD is going to help my problems” Jules said sadly as she looked down. Feeling bad that she couldn’t help out the young girl next to her.
“I got an Idea. How about I buy the CD for you……” She said with a sincere smile on her face.
“Oh no I couldn’t ask you to do that.” Jules interrupted the girl.
“I’m not finished yet….I’ll but this CD for you, but in exchange, you got to tell me what‘s bugging you.” She finally said after taking out 15 dollars from her purse and putting in the cashier.
“No its…I really don’t want to feel like I am bothering you..”
“Oh please.” The young lady smirked and closed the register. “My shift is done anyways.”
“Well since you were nice enough to buy the CD, I guess it’s only fair.” Jules excepted the CD.
“Wicked.” the brunette jumped over the counter and grabbed her denim vest. The words “2nd Hand Apocalypse” were embodied in the back of her vest with a fire type blaze surrounding the words.
“By the way, I’m Rachel…Rachel McCaslin” The mystery cashier finally said as she stuck out her hand in a welcoming gesture.
“Juliette Paxton” Jules said graciously taking Rachel’s hand into hers, feeling the warmth inside her palm. ‘she really is cute’ Jules thought to her self.
