Which Line?
Hari T
Genre: Drabble
Pairing: Orli/Keira
Synopsis: Ted is having trouble with that one line but Keira clears it all up.
“Could you focus for just one second? Please… This is vitally important.” He held up two pages for his companion, “this one,” he minutely pushed one closer to the onlooker, “or this one,” he drew back his initial page, pushing the other one forward.
“Err, this one?” His companion replied, noncommittally.
“Which one, you didn’t point, this one or this one.” The papers were flapping about in the air and the man holding them was on the brink of hyperventilation. “Terry please! If you value my sanity in the slightest… which one?”
“I can’t make these kinds of decisions without first consuming a bag of gummy bears, you know that Ted…” Terry sighed. “Fax them through to Jerry, let him decide.”
“But, but, but…”
“Quit butting will you? Give me those,” he snatched the two pieces of paper from his hands. Each had a single line of text on, each a comment spoken by Will in a declaration of love for Elizabeth. Terry studied each line, read them allowed, dramatically acted them out and then studied them again.
“Well?” Ted asked impatiently.
“Send them to Orlando or better yet Keira. They’re for her, let her decide.”
“Terry!” Ted breathed trying to calm himself. “You do not send half a script to the actors and ask them to write their own lines. That’s really not how it works.”
“Uh huh, and that would be case won, one point to you, if it was the usual average cast but this is Johnny Depp, who makes up his lines as he goes along and Orlando and Keira, who just adlib romance to satisfy their own sexual frustration! I’m sure they’ll cope. In fact they’ll probably arrange a get together at a swanky restaurant just to decide on the line.”
“You’re very cynical, has anyone ever told you that?”
“You do all the time, mate,” Terry chuckled, slapping his collaborative partner in crime on the shoulder before heading for the door. “I’m going to get gummy bears, want anything?”
“Nah, I’m alright Terry. I’ll just… give Orlando a call I guess.”
“Okay, reverse charge it, he’s like a multi billionaire by now, and god knows where he is, it’ll cost you a bomb.”
“Thanks for that, now piss off,” Ted almost growled. Terry nodded and left the room, rolling his eyes at the mid script crisis his friend seemed to be in.
Ring Ring…
“Hello, this is Orlando’s phone,” a female voice greeted, momentarily throwing him off balance.
“Erm... hi, is he er… about?” He winced at his blatant discomfort, dreading to be enlightened on what he had interrupted.
“Ted, is this Ted?” The woman asked, in a scarily familiar voice, it didn’t sound like Kate but maybe.
“Uh huh, just have a small script issue to discuss is he about?”
“I thought it was, how are you Ted? It’s Keira,”
“Keira!” He almost did a jump for joy. “Well then sweetheart I think you might be able to help me instead. I’m stuck on this one line…”
An hour later Terry returned with an evenings supply of gummy bears and several tabloids. “Hey check this out,” he commented, pulling out a paper and waving it at Ted, who was typing away furiously on a laptop.
“Hmmm,” he offered, not paying the slightest attention.
“Look at the picture,” Terry persisted, placing the paper between the screen and Ted’s face. “They’re officially official. When did that happen?” he pulled the paper back and studied the text.
“Two weeks ago,” Ted informed him, resuming his typing. “I was just on the phone to Keira, who picked up when I called Orlando,”
“Oh really? And did she help you with that line?”
Ted smirked, before turning his attention from the screen to the writer. “Oh yeah!”
