Was It Something We Said?
Fumbling with the covers, Caleb Knightley sleepily got out of bed. His head was throbbing, his nose was running and if he made it alive out of the bedroom he was going to scream for joy. As he slowly made his way onto the corridor, he heard faint voices coming from the living room.
He frowned, holding back a few coughs and remembered having left his little sister Kiera and her boyfriend in there after they had insisted he get some rest to shake that bad cold off. They had made him some soup, they had waited on him hand and foot, and thankfully Caleb had slept for hours. Since Caleb's own girlfriend was away, Orlando and Keira had insisted to spend their only day off before the holidays taking care of him.
Now, as he was clumsily making his way back towards his living room, he heard muffled giggles coming from there and he decided to stop and listen.
The voices he heard were soft whispers and mumbles intercut with tiny bouts of giggles.
”Geez, Orlando…”
“Argh…”
“What?”
“Slow down! How’s that?”
“Uh, a little more to your left…yes…no…*groan* Your other left, Orlando…”
“Oops, sorry…better?”
“*sigh* yeeesss…”
“You know, it’s kinda hard to concentrate with you looking like that…”
“Well then close your eyes…*grin*”
“Keir…”
“What?”
“Stop wiggling so much, I’m going to fall…”
“I’m not wiggling!”
“Yes you are…It’s distracting…”
“Well, excuse me, I’m not used to having so much weight on top of me…*muffled laugh*
Caleb’s jaw dropped to the floor, as a shocked expression reached his eyes. He leaned against the wall, and listened.
"Okay, again more to your left…not so much, wait! More to your right now…”
“Keira, relax…”
“I am perfectly relaxed, thank you very much.”
“Love, you need to bend…”
“*giggles* Well, I don’t bend there…Alright, now that feels downright unnatural…”
“Here…how does this feel?”
“Hmmm…much better…”
“Uh, did you just moan?”
“Uh, no.”
“Yes you did.”
“In your dreams, yeah!”
“Whoa wait! I’m stuck!”
“You’re what?!”
“It’s stuck…”
“Okay, not exactly what a girl wants to hear…”
“I can’t find where to put it…”
“What are you blind?!”
“Well, my jacket’s in the way…wait…”
“Then take it off…*giggles*”
Caleb stood still, the shocked expression on his face only growing with every word he heard.
“Oh my God…!” he kept thinking, grimacing at the mental picture he was unwillingly drawing for himself of Orlando and his little sister...
“A little eager to see me strip, I take it…”
“Shut up and get back here…*laughs*”
“Okay…there…oh, I can see it now!”
“Ouch!”
“Oh God, did I hurt you?”
“Well, if poking me counts as hurting me then yes, mister…”
“Awww…I’m sorry…let me kiss that booboo away…”
“Sure, talk to me like I’m a four-year-old why don’t you…”
*laughs* *kissing noises*
“Hmmm…alright buster, back to business…”
“Yes, m’am…um…Keira?”
“Okay, if you don’t stop doing that thing with your leg, you’re going to fall off and hit the floor, mister!”
“What do you mean? You’re the one with your arm in the way…”
“Coordination, here! We need coordination…”
“Well, I’m trying, but I have to do most of the work here.”
“Oh, please…um…okay hold still…”
“What?!”
“Hold still…”
“Uh, Keir, I’m not exactly in the best position to hold still right now…”
“Just try…‘cause I’m being smooshed against the wall here…”
“Keira, baby…”
“Just don’t move.”
“It’s kinda hard…”
“Yeah, kinda noticed…”
Caleb frowned, wishing he had not just heard that. Nuh-uh, he should not have heard that. Oh God… His mouth hung open as he stood, frozen in the hallway.
“I just need to get this top off…Orlando! Stop moving!”
“I’m doing all I can…”
“Well, if you don’t stop, you’re going to fall flat on the floor, sweetie…”
“Uh, well, that would be embarrassing…”
“Well…yeah.”
“Okay, baby, just hold it.”
“Just…I can’t…my hand’s slipping.”
“Well, then hold it with both hands…”
“Okay, this is weird…”
“Ouch!”
“What?”
“You just pinned me against the wall…”
“Well, you gotta admit, it’s much more comfortable that way…okay…God, this is so not working…you know, for a guy who claimed to be so experienced…such a pro at this, you are acting like quite the amateur…”
“Me?! What about you, miss ‘I can have this thing done and over with in ten minutes…’ before Caleb wakes up...”
“It would help if I had an actively participating partner…”
“Are you saying I’m not participating…”
“You’re cute, love…but not actively...*laugh*”
“Well, you know…it’s kinda like a first time... I’m just not used to doing this in other people’s houses…”
“Pffftt... You had no problem doing it in my mother’s living room last night…”
“That was different…”
“How so?”
“She wasn’t sleeping in the next room and we didn’t have to whisper like fourteen-year-olds stealing a kiss behind the shed…”
“Orlando, relax…*laugh*”
“I’m relaxed, baby…you’re the one not positioned the right way…”
“I told you, I do not bend there,”
*Orlando laughs*
“Okay, Orlando, stop flexing those manly boob muscles and help me out here…I feel like I’m giving myself a personal workout…”
“Alright, on three. 1….”
“2….”
“3….”
*grunty sounds and heavy breathing*
(Caleb shakes his head, grimaces and rushes inside the living room, having heard enough – too much for his own taste.)
“Oh my God! Get a room! What do you two think you’re doing in my living…” Caleb starts with a disturbed look on his face as he rushes inside the living room, throwing his hands up in the air as if he’s just walked in on her parents in bed. He then freezes and sees Keira and Orlando standing in a corner near the television set, holding up a Christmas tree and trying not to let it fall onto the floor. “…room…” Caleb then finishes, after a pause, swallowing back nervously.
“Uh,” Keira eyes Orlando, a bit confused. “We got you a Christmas tree, and are trying to hold it up…Do you have a bucket?” Keira said, holding the tree with Orlando’s help, and then paused. “Why? What did you think we were doing?”
“Uh,” Caleb lets out, breathlessly. “Well, uh, you just said…he sounded…you two…uh…just…well…” he rambled, looking rather confused. “Nothing,” he finally let out, shaking his head. “I think I need to get back in bed,” he then announced. “I’m not feeling so good…” he gulped.
Caleb rushed out of the room as quickly as he came in, positive that his fever had only gotten worse. he was hallucinating…he had to be. Better yet, he was hearing voices! What other explanation could there be?
Orlando and Keira looked at one another, a bit worried but mostly confused.
“What’s with him?” Orlando frowned, his jacket on the floor while he helped Keira hold the Christmas tree up.
Keira raised an eyebrow, completely clueless, and the two of them watched Caleb disappear.
“Was it something we said?” Keira looked at Orlando, who just shrugged in response.
