Chapter 1: The Great Escape
It was late, nearly midnight. Orlando lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling; Keira was on his mind. It had been 4 months since he saw her beautiful face, or heard her angelic voice. She had decided to leave Paris and move to the states with her boyfriend, Rupert. Though she had his phone number, she never called, until tonight that is. The phone began to ring; Orlando ignored it. The voicemail spoke out with Orlando’s voice, but the late-night caller didn’t leave a message. “Come on, love!” Keira whimpered into the phone. She was using a pay phone on the boardwalk of Atlantic City, because her cell phone had died. It was almost 6 where she was. She looked down at her stuffed suitcase. Keira wished he had given her more time too pack… Now Orlando’s cell phone was ringing. “Who calls at bloody midnight?” He reached over and answered the cell, determined now to know the answer. “Would you like to accept the charges from…” a nasally voice rang out. “Orlando this is Keira plea-,” Keira voice shot through, before the machine cut her off. “Yes of course!” Orlando nearly screamed. He was wide-awake now. “Please wait while I connect your call, sir” The unattractive voice spoke again. There was a short pause as Orlando waited impatiently and fidgeted with his lip.
“Or?” Keira whispered; she knew it was foolish to be so quiet. Then again, the board walk was filled to the brim with people, each one a potential fan
Orlando could tell she was crying. “Love? Ke? What’s wrong? Are you all right? Are you hurt? Do you need me to come? Keira?” Orlando retorted. He was so worried; he had his whole body shaking.
“Oh, no. Its fine Orlando,” she sniffed. “I’m catching a plane back to Paris and I wondered if I could stay with you in your apartment for a while.”
“You know you’re always welcome here,” Orlando started, “But why? What’s wrong? Keira please tell me,”
“I don’t have time to explain now. The plane will take off soon and I’m still on the board walk.”
“When should I expect you, Keira?” Orlando questioned.
“Bloody Hell. I don’t know remember,” Keira whined. “Either 12 or 13 hours from now. So about 7 in the morning.”
“7 your time, love” Orlando reminded. Keira laughed. She loved the sound of his voice. It was the first time she had been truly happy since leaving Paris. “I really must go, Or. Goodbye.”
“Goodbye. Oh and Keira, I’ll always be here for you.” Orlando whispered.
“Goodbye, love,” Keira replied. Simple happiness rang in her voice. Orlando laid down the receiver and drifted into sleep. His dreams filled with Keira.

Chapter 2: She will be loved
Keira hurried up the stairs. She didn’t have time for the elevator. She wanted nothing more than to see Orlando. She ran down three hallways. Stopping when she reached the familiar number 342. Suddenly, her mouth went dry. She stood there as if the door intimidated her. Finally, before she could stop herself again, she knocked quickly.
Orlando opened the door, seeing a swollen eyed and blotchy face, but still gorgeous Keira. She dropped her bag and suitcase and ran into his arms for a hug. He held her off the ground in a tight bear hug. Before Keira could stop herself, she placed a small kiss upon Orlando’s lips.
Orlando, completely shocked, almost dropped her. “It’s been a long time, Orli,” Keira began once she was on the ground again. “Far too long. You look just how I remember you.” She added with a smirk.
“I wish I could say the same to you. You’re honestly taller. And you’ve taken a shorter hairstyle, love,” Orlando dared to joke. Luckily, Keira was still as he remembered her as far as personality goes and she returned his humor with a small chuckle. To her horror the chuckle soon became a snort. Keira’s hands flew to her mouth as if retaining any duplicates of the horrible sound she had left. Orlando burst into laughter. “I’m sorry I don’t know where that came from! What’s wrong with me?” Keira murmured.
“Its called jetlag, love,” Orlando replied. Keira laughed again, but just laughs. They made their way into Orlando’s vast apartment imitating pig sounds together.
-*-
“So Keira,” Orlando began, slurping noodles from across the table, “Are you going to tell me why you decided to drop in for a little, yet?”
“Simply that. To drop in for a little visit,” Keira stiffened.
“And Rupert. What’s going on with him? I know he’s the jealous type, Ke. There’s no way he’d just let you come spend time with me.”
“I don’t think Rupert and I are together right now.” Replied Keira.
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Orlando lied.
“Don’t be, I’m sure we’ll eventually work it out. If not, who cares, right?” Keira whispered. Tears were forming in her eyes. She looked down to the table and at the napkin she was unaware she had gripped in a fist.
Orlando felt so much sympathy for her in that moment that he wanted to cry. He stood up and walked over to Keira, who sat with her elbows propped up on the table and her face in her hands. Gently, he reached out to grab a hand, then the other. He was scared of how cold they were. Before he could even blink, her head was caved into his chest and he was whispering words of hope into her ear.

Chapter 3: Tearin’ up my heart
Keira looked up into Orlando’s eyes. She didn’t need Rupert; she had him. “Champagne?” Keira asked.
“Wha-what…Oh. If you want, love,” Orlando replied, being ripped apart from his trance. Keira smiled gratefully as she pulled away from Orlando and head towards her bedroom. “Keira?” Orlando called out.
“I’m gonna change into something more comfy,” she called back. She headed into the guest bedroom and stared into the mirror. Raising her shirt, she inspected her bruise. Changed into gym shorts and a wife beater, she headed towards the vanity to brush her hair into a small ponytail. The small girl standing in the bathroom looked how she did much of the time when she first met Orlando.
He avoided her gaze as she entered. That’s when he loved Keira most. Not when she was dressed to kill for the latest movie premiere or what not, but when she just looked herself.
-----------*-----------
It was a bottle later when Keira finally felt free of her sadness. On the couch, Orlando laid sleeping. She didn’t blame him. After all, she hadn’t even said anything to him since she changed clothes. The window was cracked open and sounds of crickets filled the air. A gently breeze flew in as Keira rose to open it completely. Breathing in the fresh air of her beloved Paris, she stuck her head out to see the ground below her, seeing the streets darkened in the twilight, but still scattered with people.
Orlando stirred feeling a breeze. Keira crawled on her knees over to the couch. There was another one, or her bed, but she just wanted to be near him. Grabbing a blanket, she threw it over Orlando and squeezed on the couch with him, her head at his chest. Orlando opened his eyes ever so slightly, watching through his eyelashes, at the poor girl next to him. Protectively, he placed his arm around her, as if in some desperate attempt to keep her from the sad feelings. “You’re my security blanket, Or. I need you to comfort me whenever I’m sad, or confused. I’m sorry, Orli. I shouldn’t treat you like this. You’re a great friend to me, but Rupert…” digging her head deeper into the couch and Orlando’s chest, she started to cry again, feeling insane for talking to herself. “I don’t know how I feel about Rupert. I don’t love him but I think we’re supposed to be together, and he loves me. I wish I could talk to you about this while you’re awake. You’re my friend, Orli. Rupert is my love, I guess”
Orlando was drifting into sleep, but he heard her loud and clear. Tears in his eyes, he pulled her closer to him with no intention of ever letting go.

Chapter 4:: Light up the sky.
Orlando awoke to the smell of pancakes. He sat up and staggered to the kitchen. There at the cabinet, Keira was splitting two oranges in half. “Bloody hell, ke. I didn’t know you could cook.” “Well I've got a killer headache and I always enjoy pancakes. Besides…I cant.” “Ca-cant…?” Orlando stuttered, still obviously sleeping though it was nearly 9. “Can’t cook, silly! But look on the bright side, I can cut oranges. You’re gonna have to peel ‘em yourself though, Or.” Keira smirked. Her smile faded and she suddenly became serious. “I’m sorry for last night, Orlando. I was just so- I don’t know. I’m just sorry.” “No problem, Ke. Remember that I will always be here for whatever you need for…. How are the pancakes coming?” Orlando whispered, then grew louder. “Ugh. Here. They’re done umm…don’t judge them before you taste them,” Keira giggled and laid the tray on the table in front of Orlando and ran off into the other room.
Orlando squirmed in his seat as he stared down at the food. The pancakes where overly large. Some were under-done and some were a tad too dark. They were laid out sloppily on the plate, smothered in syrup and butter. Orlando raised his fork and slid it under the first pancake to inspect the other side, only, to his amusement, to see that the best pancake had been placed on top.
Not that the other ones were more burnt, or less over done than the already horrible one, but the top one was the only one that remotely resembled the shape of a circle. Picking up the first pancake in what seemed like utter fascination he saw the syrup on the one below was Keira’s name in cursive; though it was smeared and was beginning to run, it was quite obvious. He flipped his fingers through the rest of the stack, the other one was brick hard, and the last was nothing more than slightly cooked batter.
Deciding the ‘Keira’ written one was most edible, he placed it on top and applied even more syrup. “Damn,” he muttered. He couldn’t really get a knife through it at first, but eventually worked through the pancake with a fork. “Okay. Now I've cut it all up. You still have to take a bite you bloody moron. Just…count to three and stuff some down your throat. 1…2…3……….. Oh you’re a wimp, Orlando. Now try again. This time, he managed 6-8 pieces into his mouth and began chewing viciously.
“Do you always play and finger your food before eat it, or is it that bad?” Keira asked, stepping in from around the entryway. She had obviously stayed to watch the hilarious site. Orlando tried to respond; pancake bits shot out of his mouth instead. Crossed arms matched with a playful look accessorize Keira as she sat down in front of him.
Spilling milk, he chugged down his glass, finally able to speak. “Love, those were the best damn pancakes I have ever had in my life,” He gleamed.
“Oh really?” handing over the syrup again, “Then you better eat up.”
“Ke…umm…actually, these are pretty good,” he continued, nothing but seriousness was carried in his voice.
“Liar.”
“No. I'm very much serious. I just seem to actually like them despite appearance,” he pleaded.
“Funny. I like you the same way too.” A giggling Keira replied. To her surprise, he was still eating, and this time, in reasonable amounts. “Are- are they actually good?” when Orlando nodded she stole his fork and stuck a huge chunk of battery goodness in her mouth. Her face twitched twice. Before Orlando could even squeeze out a laugh, she had gone green. “Oh dear,” she slapped a hand over her mouth and tried chewing her nearly half-liquid half rubber chunk. Orlando tilted his head and simply smiled, knowing the pancake piece was about to be flung out her mouth, because nobody can taste that kinda of horrid excuse for food that long.

Chapter 5: Dirty Little Secret
Chimes echoed throughout downtown from the clock in the square. Hand in hand, Orlando led Keira down the streets of a city on the outer edge near Paris. She had forgotten how much she missed living there. “This one too!” she cried turning and pulling Orlando into another small store.
--*-- “Don’t you think it looks rather silly? I mean, it is pink after all,” Orlando objected, sipping his Starbucks drink. “No. Don’t you think you’re rather silly? It’s peach, not pink, anyway,” she managed to croak out through laughter. In truth, it did look rather silly. You don’t see an attractive male actor wearing a peachy-pink ruffled gypsy cloth as a skirt drinking Starbucks, everyday. “Love, I think ill pass.” He untied the skirt and passed it over the black wired table. “Well at least I don’t have to wear pants under it,” she pretended to shout as she tied it around herself and slid her pants out from under it, but only before checking the streets where nearly empty and they were alone outside. She only told him to buy it because she loved the vintage-ness to it. It matched very well with her white tank top all the same.
“My gosh, your so beautiful,” Orlando replied, ignoring her stupid insult. Keira blushed. “Especially when you blush like that,” he continued. Now she was blood red.
“What’s that?” Orlando questioned.
“Huh? Oh umm yeah.” Keira whispered, hearing the sound.
“Oh umm yeah? Well aren’t you going to answer it?” Orlando laughed. Keira was redder than ever. She flipped open her phone and the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ ring tone silenced.
“Its Rupert,” Keira whispered. Now it was Orlando who was red.
“‘Ello?” Keira inquired the other line.
“Hi Keira,”
“Hi,” Keira whispered. Orlando noticed there was something that rang thick in her voice. It was almost mistrust. but Orlando decided maybe Keira was just shocked to hear from him.
“Listen. What I said was way out of line, and I never meant to kick you out. I miss you so terribly.”
“But, Rupert, you did.”
“I know, but…”
Keira dreaded the words she knew were coming next. She was a sucker for those three words, no matter what he said or did to her. Those three words held alot of value to her and she could never imagine some one saying them without meaning it.
“I love you.”
“If you did, you wouldn’t have done that to me.”
“But…I make mistakes, but I honestly cant live without you. Keira i love so freakin' much. I love your laugh and your smile and the way you make me feel. Ill come see you tonight, Babydoll... if that’s okay with you. I don’t like you staying with Orlando.”
“…. H-how do you know I'm with Orlando,” Keira questioned. She knew she was in trouble.
“Well remember that GPS tracking thing you got on your phone incase you lost it? I hope you don’t mid but I got online and used it yesterday.”
“Rupert you cant…”
“I love you Keira,” he interrupted, “Ill be their tomorrow. I already flew out. I'm in France too.”
“…Okay…” Keira replied.
“I love you, sweetheart.”
“I love you too.” Keira ended and hung up.

Sorry its short. But ive been busy =/ ______________________________________ Chapter 6:: I don’t wanna be in Love
Silently, Orlando grabbed his dear Keira’s hand, and led her back to his apartment. The air was thick and heavy. She didn’t say anything about her converstion with rupert so he didn’t ask. But Orlando couldn’t help but to stand outside of keira’s door as she packed. Through the wood, he could hear her cry, and pity filled him.
A knock stirred keira. She ignored it and chose to continue staring out the large bay window from her cushioned bench. She had taken a rather long break from packing. Just go away and leave me alone. I just want to lie here until all the stars shine then go sleep in my warm bed. No, not my bed. I mean Orlandos bed. I'm still just a guest here.
“Ke? Can I come in?” Orlando asked. He was disappointed to receive no answer. “Keira love, just let me come in. I can her you crying.” For a moment he thought he could hear her stir to answer the door, but nothing of that nature happened. Hesitating, he opened the door.
The room was cold. Orlando shivered as he entered. He saw the bay windows stood open with beautiful keira on the seat.
“Hey,” Orlando starts.
“Hi, Orlando.”
“Hi,” he repeated stupidly.
“He’s coming here tomorrow,” Keira started, meaning rupert.
“Oh.”
“Yeah” Keira faded off. Silence followed. It was an awkward and uncomfortable silence that broke Orlando’s heart.
“So um…ur going back with him? To the states, I mean,” he asked.
“Well, I guess so. But I'm going to ask if we can stay here in france,” Keira muttered.
“Oh”
“Orlando…look. See I really think ur a great friend. But I have to go back with Rupert. He loves me and I know deep in my heart that him and I are meant to be together,” Keira cried softly, “I know he never means to hurt me and he didn’t mean to kick me out.”
“No, Ke. He did mean it. You don’t understand the feelings I have for you,” Orlando reasoned. Now he sat next to her on the seat and stared into her eyes as hers stared at the stars. Her eyes pulsed, he noticed. He knew she was holding back more tears. “I love you, ke. I cant rly help it,” he continued. He planted a single kiss on her lips and caressed her hand before rising to the door.
He walked out in tears, but knew that in some twisted way she had to be right. It obviously was meant to be rupert, not him. But keira remained on the seat across the apartment thinking of how wrong she was. She decided that she mite actually, little as she wanted to, share his feelings. She didn’t want to love orlando, because she wasn’t supposed too. She was supposed to love ruppert, but somehow she knew she didn’t and probably never would.
She found him on the balcony, staring into the now filled sky. The moon was full and the area was lit dimly. She couldn’t see his face but knew he was in tears. Wind blew her off the little balance she had while crying, but she stepped over to him as gracefully as she could. She wrapped both arms tightly around his waist, and kissed his shoulder.
