Drip. Drip. Drip. The rain pounded on the window, claiming Keira's attention. She owed so much to rain.
Opening the car door, she stepped out into the rain. She let it drench her fully, making her feel alive.
"Hey you!" She turned to see a man with dark curly hair yelling at her from the door of a nearby building. "Are you a 'Keira Knightley'?"
She laughed as she yelled back, "Yes, I am!"
He smiled at her, flashing his brilliant teeth. "Well, come in then, or you'll catch a cold!"
She obliged, thought she really wanted to stay in the rain forever.
He shook her hand. "I'm Orlando, by the way. Orlando Bloom."
She stood in the middle of the deserted dirt road, crying her eyes out.
"Keir?" a soft voice asked from behind her.
She didn't answer; she just stood there, wishing he would mistake her tears for some of the raindrops that were falling around them. He didn't.
"Keira, what's wrong?"
"It's... complicated," she choked out.
"Most things in life are," he said. "But I find it helps if you talk about them."
Keira shook her head. "I can't," she whispered, turning to walk away.
He took her hand. Her tears just came faster. "Why not, Keir?" he asked, his eyes boring into hers.
"Because... it's... you," she sobbed, lowering her eyes.
His eyes grew wide. "What did I do, Keir?" he asked in surprise.
She met his gaze once more. "Orlando, you let me fall in love with you."
The light summer rain came steadily down as Keira and Orlando walked down the street hand in hand. Suddenly, he stopped and turned to face her.
"Keira," he said. "I love you more than I ever knew I could love someone. You have showed me how to live life to the fullest. You've made me a better person. You never cease to amaze me.
"I know that you're the one for me, and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you." He bent down on one knee and took a small box out of his pocket. Keira's eyes glistened with tears as he opened the box, revealing a shiny diamond ring.
"Keira Christina Knightley, will you marry me?"
Tears of joy streamed down Keira's face, mixing with the raindrops. "Yes!" she choked out. "A thousand times yes!"
Orlando grinned with relief as he picked her up and twirled her around. she laughed as he put her down, then kissed her.
She would never forget the moment when she realized she was the luckiest girl in the world.
Someone knocked on her door, jolting her from her thoughts.
"Keira?" her mother called. "Are you ready?"
Keira sighed. Physically? Yes. Her hair and makeup were perfect. Mentally? She wasn't sure. She knew she loved Orlando, but this was the rest of her life they were talking about!
"As ready as I'll ever be," she decided aloud. She stood up and smoothed out her long white gown.
She gazed out the window one last time. How appropriate that it should rain on her wedding day.
That's it folks. THE END!
