Waiting For The World To Fall
Chapter 1
Taking in the surroundings, Keria smiled with excitement as she looked out the small window aboard 'The Anymore.' She was on her way back to the caribbean, where filming of the last half of the third Pirates movie was starting up again in 2 days. She couldn't wait to reunite with the cast. Since the London premire of Dead Man's Chest Keira had been so busy with interviews, photo shoots, and filming 'Silk' in Italy, that she really couldn't keep up with her other co-stars. She had missed them. She missed the weekly movie nights, the late night gossip talks, but most of all she had missed him.
Him. Her Co-star. Her best friend. Her Orlando. The thought of him immediately brought a smile to her face. She had gone to the audition strictly to pursue her acting career, but never in her wildest dreams did she think she would get offered the role and would find such a great friend like him. The two of them had bonded almost instantly, and they quickly developed a close and treasured friendship. He was her confidant, her rock, and he had quickly become one of the most special people in her life. After filming in 2005 had ended, they were both thrown into a whirlwind of publicity, which left very little time to see each other. In fact, she hadn't seen him since the premires four months ago. But she would see him in just a few minutes, and for that matter, every day for the next 6 weeks.
That thought alone brought butterfilies to her stomach, but before she could question it, the boat pulled into the harbor. She jumped out of her seat, and after giving the captian a quick thank you, she made her way outside and to dry land. The bus, with thier faithful driver, Derrick, was waiting for her. She hugged him as she boared, and proceded to chit-chat with him thoughout the short ride to the hotel. Derrick hugged her one last time before helping her unload her luggage from the bus. She thanked him graicously and soon found herself in front of her hotel room. It was the same room she had always had, the room that held so many memories that were dear to her. She giggled looking at the newly replaced plaque with the room number on it. "That's a story to tell the grandkids." She thought to herself, remembering the incident. Keira placed her stuff inside the room quickly before returning to the elevator that brought her to the fifth floor.
Keira could hear Johnny's and Orlando's happy bannter from outside the meeting room door, and she couldn't help but smile at the sound. She quickly opened the door and made her way inside.
Taking a quick look around, she saw Makenzie, Johnny, Orlando, and Lee standing by the window talking and laughing. Jack and Geoffery were seated at a large wooden table in the center of the room reading the latest script, and Gore was off in the corner quietly talking on his cell phone. The others were nowhere in sight.
Dropping her messenger bag to the floor, Keira placed her hands on her hips before speaking. "Did my boys miss me?" At the sound of her voice, everyone immediately stopped talking and looked over at her. "Well don't just stand there!" The Jack, Makenzie, Lee, Geoffry, and Johnny all came over to where Keira was and hugged her tightly, and Keira couldn't help but laugh. "Ok, ok, that was lovely. I think you're cutting off my air supply Johnny." She giggled trying to pry the man off her who kept rejusting his grip on her.
They quickly stepped back and Jack was the first to speak. "Well, well, well. I hope you're ready to do some Oscar-worthy acting, Ms. Knightley." She punched him in the shoulder, making him laugh. "You look great Keir." Keira smiled at him. It was definitely good to be back with the cast who all seemed to be in good spirits.
Keira excused herself from Jack and Johnny and made her way over to Gore. They exchanged hugs and she caught up on what she would have to be doing within the month. His phone rang, so she politely excused herself and made her way over to the large table and sat down. She grabbed a newly revised script and began the long, tedious process of re-reading it.
Keira had only gotten through the first couple of pages before being startled by the feel of someone's hands over her eyes, blocking her vision. "Guess who?" Keira immediately smiled. She knew that voice from anywhere, but if he wanted to play this game, then so be it. "Hmm, let me think. That sexy voice and these strong, large, hands could only belong to one man. Mr. Depp." Keira couldn't help but giggle when she heard his scoff behind her. "Keira, I'm insulted."
Still laughing, Keira replied. "You didn't hear? He's my new boy toy. According to the tabloids, we are passionately in love and I'm carrying his child right now." When she felt his hands being removed from her face, Keira quickly turned around and finally looked at the man in front of her. She took in his faded blue jeans, the black t-shirt that fit him perfectly, his choclate curls that were a mess at the moment, before finally resting on his amused and mischievous eyes. He was definitely a sight for sore eyes. "Its good to see you Or." Orlando smiled warmly at her. "Good to see you too Keir, and the joke was so not funny, but I guess i can let it slide for now. So do I get a hug too?"
Keira rolled her eyes and gave Orlando an incredulous look. "Of course you do darling." He opened his arms wide, and Keira didn't need any more encouragement than that. She quickly closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. Orlando immediately closed his arms around her and pulled her tightly against him as he lifted her off the ground in an attempt to pull her closer to his body. He deeply inhaled the lingering smell of her shampoo as he put his head in the curve of her neck. "It's so good to see you Keira. I missed you." At the sound of Orlando's sincere words, Keira tightly shut her eyes and enjoyed the feeling of being held in his strong arms. It never failed to amaze her just how much comfort she found in his embrace. Regardless of how she was feeling, with a simple hug from Orlando she always felt safe and comforted. She quietly whispered in his ear, "I missed you too Or, more than you know."
Their embrace was quickly ended when they heard several people clearing their throats behind them. They turned around and saw that the rest of the cast were staring at them with mixtures of amusement and curiosity. Keira nervously ran a hand through her hair before speaking. "Hey, when did everyone show up?" Johnny chuckled at his embarassed friend. "Oh a few minutes ago. You two didn't notice since you were so caught up in each other." That comment brought laughter from the others, and deep blushes from Orlando and Keira. Before any more tormenting could occur, several members from the crew and the directors of the shoot walked into the room. Jerry Bruckheimer, the main producer of the movie, took his seat at the head of the table before speaking. "Glad to see everyone made it here safe and sound. If you all take a seat, we can get this little meeting over with."
The cast quickly took their seats, with Keira sitting directly across from Orlando. The meeting began, and it was to basically fill the actors, and actress, in on what was to be expected from them. They went over security details, and various media obligations they would have to fulfill over the course of the shoot, and finally when they were to actually begin filming. The meeting lasted a little over an hour, and surprisingly everyone hung on to every word that was said. The excitement on all their faces was apparent. Each of them had enjoyed the previous shoots and in 2 days all the crazy maddness would begin once again.
'Well I think that's it guys. All I can say is to enjoy the next 6 weeks and most importantly, have fun! Who knows? This shoot might have a few interesting twists and turns along the way." At Jerry's last comment, Keira looked over to Orlando and was taken aback by the intense stare he was directing her way. Those butterflies were back in her stomach, and she didn't know what to make of that just yet. She forced herself to look away from his intense stare and she tried to focus on the script in front of her.
A few seats away, Johnny and Jack took in the little exchange between Keira and Orlando. Jack leaned over to quietly whisper in his ear. "Is it just me, or did you feel the heat from their stare all the way down here?" Johnny quickly nodded his head in agreement while keeping his eyes on Keira and Orlando. A wide smiled crossed Johnny's face before replying. "Yeah, you're right. And you know what else? I think Jerry is right. I think there are definitely going to be some surprises on this shoot..."
