Thanks for the WONDERFUL feedback, it's those comments that continue to push me to write, and i'm so glad that everyone is liking my story- yay! ;D I'm gonna try and update as much as i can, Marching Band practice started today so my schedule is going to be a bit crazy for the next couple of weeks...but i'll try my best to keep cranking out updates. Thanks again guys!
BTW: if you notice random Justins or Kellys in the story, please tell me, cause i'm stupid and accidently change Orlando's and Keira's names.... Edited: because i'm sleep deprived and spelt Keira's name Keria a couple times
Chapter Four
The Next Day….
Putting down his slice of pizza, Johnny Depp took a good, hard look at his co-star. The longer he continued to watch him, the more concerned he grew. Johnny had managed to somehow weasel Gore into giving him a day off, and now he was sitting in the cafeteria at the hotel sharing a takeout pizza with Orlando. Who knew they had authentic Italian pizza in the Caribbean? Johnny knew something was wrong with Orlando the moment he saw him in the make-up trailer. Thinking it was just nerves or that Orlando was in a bad mood, he let it go; but after being in the same room with Orlando for the past 30 minutes, he knew something was seriously wrong with his fiend.
“Ok mate, what’s going on?”
Orlando swallowed his bite of pizza before curiously looking at Johnny.
“What are you talking about? Everything is fine.”
“Ok first, I don’t appreciate you lying to my face, you whelp.” When Orlando began to object, Johnny held up a hand to stop him before continuing to speak.
“Don’t even open your mouth and lie again. You forget that as your role-model, I give the best advice…and I know that there is something going on.” Taking in Orlando’s sad features again after his weak joke failed, Johnny took a more serious tone.
“Talk to me Orlando, what’s wrong?”
After putting his slice of pizza down, Orlando leaned back in his chair and focused his attention on the table in front of him. Running a hand through his unruly curls, he took a deep breath before speaking.
“I don’t even know where to start.”
“Well I do know one thing, and that’s this - there is only one thing that causes that look on a man’s face…and that’s a woman. So what’s going on with you and Keira?”
Orlando’s mouth fell open in shock and he stared in disbelief at his co-star. When he finally found his voice, he spoke up.
“Ok, how do you even know it’s about Keira? I never said one word about her.”
Leaning back in his chair and folding his arms across his chest, Johnny gave his friend a knowing look.
“Didn’t you hear a word I just said? I’m your friend Orlando…it’s my job to know these things, besides I saw you moping around on set all day and Keira wouldn‘t look at you…so start talking.”
Orlando closed his tired eyes and after gathering his thoughts, he returned his focus to his friend and began softly speaking.
“I don’t even know where to begin. You’ve seen firsthand just how close Keira and I have become. Our friendship is so amazing, and I was so happy with it. It was pretty damn near perfect…”
“But?”
“But somewhere along the way, things have changed. Ever since we started this movie, there has been something between the two of us. We never talked about it, never discussed it; but it has always been there. And as the days go by, it’s only gotten stronger.”
A sad smile formed on Orlando’s lips as he continued.
“And this “thing” has just been building up more and more until the other night. Keira and I were walking back to my hotel room, the other night, after going to the club, and our convesation was getting a bit more serious, I was happy were it was going, but then I opened the door and Kate magically appears….”
Orlando still looked so heartbroken and so lost, and Johnny was confused.
“Ok, let me get this straight…you two share this wonderful conversation, and then your girlfriend shows up…so why the sad look on your face? Shouldn’t you be on cloud nine right now?”
“There’s just one thing Johnny. I can‘t have two girls.”
Lowering his gaze from his co-star’s shocked face, Orlando softly continued.
“So you mean, you like Keira?”
Hearing Johnny’s question, Orlando closed his eyes and thought about Keira. After a few minutes, a gentle smile crossed his lips and he opened his eyes to focus on his friend.
“I’ve never met anyone quite like her. You know how it usually takes me awhile to open up to a person, and it didn’t with Keira. But with Kate, the moment I met her, I knew she would be an important person in my life…someone who would be in my life forever. When I look at her, I see her for the smart, beautiful, funny, and amazing woman that she is. Every time she smiles at me, every time her hand touches mine, and every time I hear her beautiful laugh, I thank God for having her in my life, and I wonder what I ever did to deserve such a blessing.”
Taking a moment to regain his composure, Orlando quietly continued.
“But when I look at Keira, I can’t help but dream of what it would be like to have her in my life as something more than just a friend. Everything I ever hoped and dreamed to find in a woman…she has it all. The perfect person has been right in front of me all this time and I’ve never noticed. But I’m not blind anymore to how wonderful and precious she is.” His voice trembling with emotion, Orlando finally whispered,
“She’s everything to me.”
Johnny could only stare at his son in wonderment. He knew Oralndo cared deeply for Keira, but he didn’t realize just how deeply Orlando had fallen for the young lady.
Johnny smiled at Orlando, picking up another piece of pizza, “I’ve been so fortunate to see your relationship with Keira develop over these past few months, and secretly I always knew that if anyone would reach your heart, it would be Keira. It’s kind of hard not to fall for that girl’s charms, am I right?”
Johnny smiled when Orlando let out a small laugh, and then he continued.
“Keira deserves to know how you feel about her. I know just how scary and overwhelming it can be to fully open your heart to a woman, but you at least have to try. If I have taught you anything, it’s that you should always go after what you want, and to never let your fears or insecurities hold you back, because if you do you will miss out on so many wonderful things in life. If Keira is what you truly want, than you need to tell her exactly how you feel. She’s a special girl, the kind of girl that doesn’t come along often, so don’t let her walk away without a fight Orlando.”
Turning his eyes to the window beside him, Orlando looked at the sun setting outside as he let his words sink in. He knew it was time. It was finally time to open up his heart to Keira and let her know once and for all just what she meant to him.
Later That night…
Passing by a mirror on her way down the hotel hallway, Keira stopped to look herself over. Staring at her reflection, she sighed dejectedly at her appearance. Her hair was a mess, her tired eyes were bloodshot, and she had heavy bags under her eyes. She looked like crap. It wasn’t too much of a surprise considering the hellish day she had had. It had all begun last night after clubbing with Orlando and his lovely girlfriend. She tossed and turned in bed all night replaying the scene over and over in her mind. Because of that, she was lucky if she even got a full hour of sleep. Then she had to be up at 6 AM for a photo shoot and interview with People where they of course had to ask her about the status of her relationship with Orlando. That surely put her in an even better mood than before. Then it was off for several meetings, including one about the possibility of a love scene, in which she was informed that it was indeed being talked about. This truly had been the day from hell, and it wasn’t getting any better.
It didn’t help matters that Orlando was avoiding her. During the meeting about the movie he had sat as far away from her as possible, and as soon as the meeting was over he had rushed out of the room without a second look. The last time she saw him was at lunch and it was now 9 at night. She hated the fact that he was avoiding her. It hadn’t even been a full day, and yet she was already sick of this stupid awkwardness between them. Was he mad at her? That thought alone brought a lump in her throat and she fought to swallow it. She needed to find him and talk to him…the sooner the better.
Turning the corner, she almost ran straight into Johnny. She noticed the way his eyes widened as he looked her over. She must really, really look like crap.
“Hey Keira, wow you look…you look…”
Keira rolled her eyes at Johnny’s babbling.
“I know I look like crap Johnny, if that’s what you were going to say.”
“What? I would never say that to you.” He said with an innocent look on his face.
Keira managed to give him a small smile while patting his shoulder. “Yeah I know you wouldn’t, cause you’re such a sweetie.”
“That’s true, but that’s not the reason I wouldn’t say anything. Hey I saw what you did to Orlando back on that island, and I’m scared of you now.”
Keira rolled her eyes as she playfully pushed his shoulder.
‘Thanks, and yes you should be scared of me. Speaking of Or…you haven’t seen him anywhere have you?”
Johnny smiled sadly as he looked at Keira’s pained face. Orlando had the same look on his face all day.
“Yeah actually he’s up in his room now.” Taking a hotel key from his back pocket, Johnny placed it in Keira’s hand.
“I’m sharing a room with him tonight, so why don’t you go up and talk to him.”
“You are?” Keira hesitantly asked. “What happened to Kate? Wasn’t she here?”
“Trust me Keira, go on up and talk to him. You guys obviously have a few things to talk about.” He said, avoiding her last question.
“Well what about you? How are you going to get back in the room if I have your key?”
“Don’t worry about KK. I’ll get another one from the hotel desk.” A small smile formed on his face and his eyes twinkled with amusement. “Besides, it gives me an excuse to go talk to the cute girl working the front desk.”
Keira couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re hopeless Johnny.”
“Yeah I know, what can you do? I’ll catch ya later love.”
Keira watched as Johnny began making his way down the hallway, and before he could round the corner, she spoke up.
“Hey Jonny!”
Stopping in his tracks, he turned back around to face her.
“Yeah?”
A grateful smile crossed Keira’s face as she softly whispered.
“Thank you.”
“No problem Keira. Just do us all a favor and work things out with Orlando.”
When he was finally out of sight, Keira slowly began making her way to Orlando’s room. Standing outside the door, she silently debated whether or not she should go though with this. Finally gathering all her strength, she unlocked the door and hesitantly walked inside.
Looking around, she saw no sign of orlando. He wasn’t in the bathroom, and he was nowhere to be found in the main room. “I guess he’s not here,” she silently thought while looking around the room. She was about to turn and leave when something on the balcony caught her eye. Taking a few steps closer to the door, she realized that it was Orlando standing outside. He stood motionless, leaning against the balcony with his back towards her. Taking another calming breath she walked up and quietly opened the sliding glass door.
Orlando was knocked from his thoughts by the sound of the sliding glass door opening behind him. Turning around, he expected to see Johnny but was shocked when he saw Keira standing before him.
“Keira? What are you…I mean…how did you…”
Keira nervously clasped her hands together while keeping her focus on the floor.
“Johnny let me in, I hope you don’t mind.”
Orlando nervously ran a hand through his curls while attempting to keep his focus off of the beautiful girl in front of him.
“No it’s ok Keira…so what’s up?”
Keira walked over and leaned against the balcony beside Orlando. Gazing out at the small island city below them, Keira took a deep breath before speaking.
“I know you have been avoiding me all day Orlando, and I was hoping we could talk about it.”
“What? I’m not avoiding you Keira. I’ve just been busy today that’s all.”
Turning her head, she focused on his soulful brown eyes.
“Uh huh, so tell me Orlando. Why do you look like you would rather have a root canal than to be standing here in front of me right now?”
Orlando closed his eyes and sighed dejectedly. She had caught him. He had in fact been avoiding her all day, and when he turned around and saw her standing on the balcony with him, his first instinct was to jump off the balcony…if only he wasn’t six stories above the concrete.
“One of the things I loved most about our friendship Orlando, was the fact that we know exactly what the other person is thinking and feeling. We don’t have to say one word to each other. I used to be able to look into your eyes and know everything. I’m looking at you now, and it scares me so much, cause I have absolutely no idea what is going on inside that head of yours.” Looking over his face again, she managed to whisper. “Please say something Orlando…anything…”
Orlando focused on the city lights below them, and after a few moments he finally found his voice. “I’m sorry for last night, I didn’t know she was coming.”
Keira nodded, a few tears dripping from her misty brown eyes. “I thought, I thought…I thought you hated me.“ Keira broke down as sobs racked her body. In an instant she was wrapped in Orlando’s strong arms.
Hearing her cries against his chest broke Orlando’s heart, and he felt tears form in his own eyes. “Hey..hey…shhh, Keira, love, shhh. I don’t think it’s possible for me to hate you.”
When her cries subsided he gently stepped back and cupping her face in his large hands he continued.
“I admit I have been avoiding you today. I just didn’t know what to say to you after last night. I guess I just needed some time alone to think. I just needed some time to myself to really think about some stuff and clear my head. But I do not hate you Keira, and I’m not mad at you.”
Wiping away her tears, Keira lifted her eyes to Orlando. “We’re still friends….right Orlando?”
Orlando closed his eyes at the sound of that word. Friends…. hearing that word before only brought happiness and thankfulness to his heart, but now hearing it, he couldn’t help but feel a little sad and a little disappointed.
Opening his eyes, he leaned forward and hugged Keira’s body tightly to his own.
“Yeah Keir we’re friends…forever,” he softly whispered against her hair.

I love you guys for loving my story, your comments rock! I wrote this chapter last night, it's the longest so far, 12 pages in Word. dang....
Chapter Six
The Next Day… “Cameron Diaz was the hottest Charlie’s Angel.” Lee rolled his eyes at Jack before replying. “No way dude. Drew Barrymore was sooo much hotter than Cameron Diaz.” “No way.” “Yes she was.” “No she wasn’t” “Yes! She was!” Keira giggled quietly as she observed the two guys playful bickering. It was two hours before call time and the co-stars were all hanging out “backstage” in one of the lounge rooms. Taking her attention off of Lee and Jack, she turned to look at Orlando who was sitting beside her quietly reading a book. Since their talk the previous night, things had been a little better between them. Oh there was definitely still some tension in the air but at least it was manageable. Looking up at Orlando once more, the memories of that night at the club crept back into her mind, and she felt a pang of sadness course through her body. With a sad sigh she closed her eyes and mentally berated herself. It was too late to do anything now. Forcing those thoughts away, she silently thought about her friendship with Orlando. Losing him was not an option. It was just that simple. She silently stared at Orlando for a few more seconds before finally speaking. “So what are you reading?” Never taking his eyes off the book, Orlando replied, “It” Keira’s eyes widened slightly. “It? You read Stephen King books? Aren’t they a little disturbing?” Orlando chuckled quietly and finally raised his eyes to Keira’s. “Yes actually they are very disturbing, but also very entertaining. But trust me, this book is not nearly as scary as those two idiots over there arguing about Charlie’s Angels.” Keira took a quick look at Lee and Jack, who were still intensely bickering about Drew and Cameron. Giggling, she turned to focus on Orlando’s amused eyes. Hearing her beautiful laughter warmed Orlando’s entire body and he couldn’t stop the wide smile from forming on his lips. Sure, it still felt a little awkward to be around Keira considering everything that went down that night. But, when he saw her on his balcony last night, and seeing her smiling in front of him now, he knew just how blessed he was to have her in his life, even as just a friend. His thoughts were interrupted as Jerry Bruckheimer walked in the room. “Guys, can I have your attention for a minute?” When everyone in the room quieted down, Jerry continued. “As I told you guys a few weeks ago, we would be adding another woman to the cast to star along side Keira and Niomie. Well, we finally decided who would play the girl that Will meets in Tortuga…” He trailed off as the door opened and their newest cast mate entered. Keira silently looked the young woman over. From her long legs, beautiful wavy blonde hair, bright blue eyes and golden tanned skin, she was pretty much every guy’s fantasy woman, and not to mention Orlando‘s girlfriend. Looking quickly around the room, she couldn’t help but giggle at the way Lee and jack were looking at this girl. If they kept it up, they would need to wear buckets around their necks to catch all the drool coming out of their mouths. Yes, it was safe to say, Kate Bosworth was definitely well received from the other sex. Still keeping her attention on the two guys, Keira lightly nudged Orlando’s shoulder while whispering, “Hey Orlando, check out dumb and dumber over there.” She turned to face him, Orlando sat back on the couch beaming at his girlfriend. This wasn’t good…this wasn’t good at all…
Two Days Later….
“Yes mom I am eating right….yes I am getting enough sleep…everything is perfect mother. Alright I have to go now but I’ll call you later…Yes I promise I will call. I’m sorry about the other night I just forgot. I was watching a movie with the guys and just forgot to call you. You know I didn’t do it on purpose. Mom…Mom!! I have to go. Alright I love you too…Good Bye.”
With a heavy sigh Keira shut her phone and placed it back in her pocket. She loved her mother dearly but sometimes she really did want to strangle her. Letting out a deep breath, Keira continued on her way down one of the temporary back lot’s hallways.
It was pretty much dead backstage, considering it was still pretty early in the morning and all her other cast mates were still probably asleep back at the hotel. They would all probably pass out when they find out that Keira Knightley actually woke up before the sun had risen today. Chuckling at the thought, she continued her way down the hallway. Passing by one of the lounge rooms, something inside caught her eye and she stopped. Backtracking a few steps, she quietly peered inside the room to find Kate sitting at table with pictures scattered all over the place.
Keira stood outside the room for a few minutes as she quietly watched Kate. Keira had to admit that this girl had pleasantly surprised her. She didn’t know what to make of her at first, but Kate had managed to impress her. She obviously took her role incredibly seriously and from what she had heard she had been doing a fantastic job. But Keira had to admit that she hadn’t gone out of her way to make nice with Kate. Keira was always very friendly, and she and Kate had had a few random conversations before, but nothing spectacular. The past few days, it seemed as if Kate and Orlando had formed a stronger bond, since they were spending a lot of time together on the set. Keira didn’t know what to make of that just yet. If Orlando was happy, that’s all that mattered to her, but she couldn’t seem to prevent the jealousy from creeping its way into her body every time she saw them sitting close on the couch, or when Kate would laugh loudly at one of Orlando’s silly jokes.
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Keira quietly made her way in to the room and approached Kate. Kate was so engrossed in the work in front of her that she didn’t even realize Keira was there.
“Hey Kate.”
Kate gasped loudly and took a jump back, causing many of the photos to scatter on the floor. Keira quickly hurried over and began to help her pick up the photos.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you like that,” Keira said as a sheepish smile crossed her face.
“It’s ok Keira. No harm done.”
After picking up all the photos on the floor, they both stood back up as silence encased the room. Taking a quick glance at the photos again, Keira spoke.
“So what are you doing here this early in the morning?”
Kate took a seat again at the table and after wiping off some dirt on one of the photos she responded. “I’m just trying to decide what photos I want to scrapbook. There are just so many to choose from.”
“Need some help?”
Kate looked into Keira’s sincere eyes before smiling warmly. “Yeah, that would be a big help. Thank you.”
“It’s not a problem. I don’t have anything else to do,” Keira said as she took a seat across from her. “So what exactly am I’m looking for here?”
“Just for any photos that jump out at you. They don’t have to be of a specific person or anything.”
Keira grabbed a stack of photos and began to examine them. She had to admit that the photos were pretty amazing. Stopping at one of Lee singing with Johnny she slowly looked it over. Kate had seemed to capture the photo at just the perfect moment. The fire light was dancing across Lee’s face, the smoke was all around him, and Johnny’s eyes were closed as he strummed his guitar passionately.
“This is one is definitely a keeper.”
Stopping her own perusal of the photos in her hands, Kate leaned over and took the photo from Keira’s hands. Looking it over quickly, she smiled slightly.
“Yeah I think you’re right,” she said as she placed it in a special folder beside her.
Keira continued looking, and the more she looked, the more impressed she was. All the photos were incredible. There were some that stood out more than the others, such as the one of Her and Jack in her hands right now. She could easily see this picture being in a magazine or newspaper. Handing it over to Kate, she continued to look.
“So how do you like filming in the Caribbean so far?”
Never looking up from her photos, Kate smiled widely before responding.
“I love it. It’s so fast paced and energetic and there certainly is never a dull moment. There is only one problem though.”
“And what’s that?”
Looking up from her photos, a playful frown formed on Kate’s lips as she held up a photo of Orlando.
“This man right here is going to kill me. Does he ever stand still at all? I don’t think I’ve managed to get a dozen decent shots of him because he is always moving.”
Laughing loudly, Keira looked down at a slightly blurry photo of Orlando sword fighting in her own hands before giving Kate a sympathetic look.
“Don’t take it personal Kate. That is just Orlando. We really do think he needs to be on medication, perhaps Ritalin maybe. We all have running bets on how long we think it will be before he slips up and really takes a beating.”
“You guys are really great friends aren’t you?”
Keira slowly looked up from her photos to look at the girl across from her.
“Yeah. We completely support each other and I can’t tell you how comforting it is to have someone who understands everything I’m going through. I don’t know how far I would have made it on these films without him by my side.”
Keira gave Kate another warm smile before returning to the photos in her hand. She began flipping through them once again, and a slight gasp escaped her lips at the last photo in her pile. It was a photo of Orlando, but certainly not from one from filming. He was dressed in regular clothes and it appeared to have been taken in a tropical wooded area. He had one of his arms leaning against the side of a tree, the other arm was against his chest, and he was looking to the side, with an intense expression across his face, as if he were in deep thought. His beautiful loose curls appeared brown with a slight golden touch with the bright sun shining on them, and his eyes….she couldn’t even find to words to describe his eyes. She continued to stare hard at the photo, as if attempting to engrave it into her memory forever. It was simply the most beautiful photo of Orlando that she had ever seen. Looking at his face again, she felt her palms sweating and her heart pounded wildly in her chest. Kate’s voice slowly brought her back to reality.
“Everyone has been so unbelievably nice to me on this movie, especially Johnny. Right away he was just so warm and welcoming, he let me hide in his room for a few days before Jerry wanted to introduce me.”
Keira managed a weak smile at Kate before returning her eyes to the photo in front of her. She lightly began running her fingertips gently over Orlando’s face. Later That Night…
Taking a deep steadying breath, Keira hesitantly raised her hand and knocked twice quickly on the hotel door. Taking a small step back, she shoved her hands in her pockets and rocked back on her heels a few times, trying desperately to calm her racing heartbeat. When no one answered after a couple of minutes, Keira knocked again, this time much louder. Again, no one answered, and sighing in frustration, Keira began making her way down the hallway.
Slowly making her way to the elevators, Keira silently wondered where Orlando could be. She barely had anytime to spend with Orlando and the time she did have, they were surrounded by tons of people, not to mention, Kate. She needed to talk to him in private, and she had hoped to find him in his hotel room, but he obviously wasn’t there.
After checking the indoor pool, Keira began making her way back up to Orlando’s hotel room. She was determined to talk to him tonight. Her fears and insecurities had already cost her enough time, and she refused to waste any more time. She needed to find him…the sooner the better.
Stepping off the elevator, she began making her way back to his room. The closer she got, the quicker her pace became. Rounding a corner quickly and slamming into something warm and hard, she went flying to the ground, landing hard on her bottom. Looking up, she was shocked to see a very amused Mackenzie, along with Jack right behind him.
Rubbing her back, a painful expression crossed her face.
“My God Mackenzie. Ever consider being a wrestler? You sure know how to hit someone. God, I think I broke my tailbone.”
To emphasize her point she rubbed her back again and couldn’t help but wince at the slight pain the coursed through her body.
Rolling his eyes as a slight chuckle escaped from his lips, Mackenzie placed his hands on his hips before looking down at Keira.
“Hey it’s not my fault that you are running like a madwoman down these halls. You know, that’s why they have those nice inventions called treadmills down at the gym.”
Jack held his hand out to Keira, and she immediately took hold of it. Pulling her up, Mackenzie couldn’t help but chuckle again at the sight of her painful expression, and at the sound of the small growl that escaped from her lips.
“So what exactly are you doing running around here Keira?”
Keira dusted herself off and rubbed her back again before focusing on Jack. She certainly didn’t want to tell him that she was running to find Orlando. Clearing her throat a few times, she nervously tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before speaking.
“Umm, nothing at all Jack. Just going back to my room. Don’t want to miss Jay Leno. You know how much I like watching that show…yeah….”
Keira closed her eyes briefly in misery. She sincerely hoped she didn’t actually sound as stupid as she thought she did. She really needed to learn how to lie better, that’s for sure.
“Umm Keira are you a little lost sweetie?”
“What do you mean?”
Seeing Keira’s perplexed expression brought forth another hearty chuckle from Mackenzie. “Well I was just wondering if you were lost. I mean…this is the sixth floor, and well, your room is on the fifth floor.”
Keira closed her eyes and mentally smacked herself. She really could be a first class goober sometimes. Opening her eyes, she sighed again at the amused expressions of both her friends faces. She needed to leave now before she dug herself in a deeper hole. Clapping her hands together, she put on her brightest smile.
“Silly me. I guess I just hit the wrong button on the elevator and got off on the wrong floor. No wonder I couldn’t find my room. Umm, I’ll see you mates later.”
Turning quickly on her heels, she managed to take a few steps before Jack’s voice rang out.
“Hey Keira!”
Stopping in her tracks, but not turning around, she replied.
“Yeah?”
“In case you were wondering…I think Orlando mentioned something about going to the arcade on the first floor.” Taking a deep breath, Keira slowly turned around. Seeing the knowing looks on Mackenzie’s and Jack’s face, she couldn’t help but roll her eyes and chuckle at herself.
“Thanks guys.”
Turning back around, she tried to walk at a reasonable pace, but at the thought of finally seeing Orlando, she couldn’t stop herself from starting a full-blown run down the empty hotel hallway.
Mackenzie and Jack silently watched her go, and they couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of Keira running down the hallway. There was certainly no one quite like Keira Knightley, that's for sure.
Meanwhile…
“Dammit!”
Letting out a frustrated growl, Kate kicked the arcade game hard before letting out a few expletives. Closing her eyes, she beat her hand against the top of the arcade game before sighing again in frustration.
“You know, darling…kicking the game isn’t going to make you do any better…”
Startled, Kate opened her eyes and quickly turned around, coming face to face with the one and only Orlando Bloom. Leaning her back against the arcade game, she took a few seconds to look her boyfriend over. She took in his beautiful curls partially hidden under his black hat, the light blue t-shirt that hugged his upper body perfectly, the pair of black windbreaker pants the hung low on his trim waist, before finally coming back up to rest on his amused eyes. How could one man be so damn appealing?
Blushing at her thought, she quickly cleared her throat a few times before returning her focus to the game. After looking at it for several seconds, she turned back towards Orlando as a playful smirk crossed her lips.
“Kicking it might not make me do better, but it sure did make me feel better.”
A hearty chuckle escaped Orlando’s lips as he took a few more steps into the room.
“So what are you playing?”
“Moral Kombat.”
Shoving his hands deeply into his pockets, Orlando leisurely made his way over to stand next to Kate.
“Ahh I see. Mortal Kombat is a classic. So what’s the problem?”
Kate stared at Orlando’s chiseled face beside her for a few seconds before looking back at the game.
“I can’t get past this one stupid guy. I think I have wasted close to five bucks and I still can’t beat him.”
An amused grin formed on Orlando’s lips as he focused his eyes on Kate.
“Want me to give it a shot?”
Raising her eyes to Orlando’s, a suspicious look crossed Kate’s face.
“Do you know how to play?”
“Do I know how to play?” Orlando scoffed softly beside her. “I‘m Will Turner…savvy? This should be a piece of cake.”
Stepping to the side, Kate allowed Orlando to take over her game. After placing two quarters into the slot, the game began once again and Orlando began the intense battle against the enemy. Ten seconds later, Orlando’s character was dead. Kate fought hard not to giggle at Orlando’s shocked face. He obviously wasn’t expecting on getting beat so soon. Lightly nudging his shoulder, she finally found her voice.
“Wow love, I am impressed to say the least. You lasted a long ten seconds. Now I can see just why you were a Mortal Kombat champ back in the day.”
Hearing her voice dripping of sarcasm, Orlando finally managed to tear his shocked eyes away from the game to focus on his girlfriend’s amused eyes. Motioning towards the game a few times, his eyes widened in shock as he spoke.
“Hey! That was totally a fluke, I swear. I’m just rusty that’s all. I haven’t played in a long time. Once I get all warmed up I’ll be kicking some butt, you just wait.”
“Uh huh, I’m sure you will Orlando. You just keep telling yourself that.”
Looking at his flustered and confused face once again, KAte couldn’t stop the giggles from escaping her lips. He was just too cute.
“What you don’t believe me Kate? Fine, how about I take you on right now. Come on, me and you against each other.”
“You’re so on Or,” Kate replied as a look a pure confidence crossed her beautiful face.
After they put the quarters into the game, they stood side-by-side, ready to go to battle. The game began and the war was on. Both of them fought valiantly to get the upper hand, neither of them wanting to lose this particular battle. The match was a complete deadlock for several minutes, neither of them having the upper hand. Kate soon began to gain the advantage, and she couldn’t help but smile in excitement when she delivered several hard blows to Orlando’s character.
Frowning at the sight of his character getting knocked down, Orlando couldn’t help but let out a frustrated growl.
“You are so cheating love.”
Kate giggled loudly as she punched Orlando’s character hard once again. Continuing the beating on his character, she raised her eyebrows in shock before exclaiming.
“I am so not cheating. I am beating your butt fair and square.”
Orlando’s character was knocked down once again, and seeing that he was close to dying, Orlando decided he need to take matters into his own hands. Sliding his eyes over to Kate, he noticed that she was intensely focused on the game. A mischievous smirk formed on his lips, and without another thought he jammed his hip into hers, effectively sending her flying a few feet away from the game.
Taking the opportunity, Orlando began beating up on Kate’s character, getting in as many shots as he could before Kate could get back to the game. Kate could only stand there, frozen in shock for a few seconds, disbelieving that Orlando would openly cheat like that. Shaking her head quickly, she raced back over to the game and resumed the battle.
“I so can’t believe you would openly cheat like that Orlando. You suck so bad that you have to cheat to win. How sad is that?”
Orlando laughed loudly and shrugged his shoulder nonchalantly.
“Hey whatever it takes to win.”
The battle resumed, but by that point it was too late. Orlando’s little maneuver had done the trick and after a few more minutes of intense fighting, his character came out the winner.
“That’s right everyone, Orlando Bloom is still a Mortal Kombat champ!”
Leaning against the game, Kate could only giggle at the sight of Orlando’s little victory dance. Although he most certainly cheated, she would give him this moment of glory to gloat. After several minutes of celebration, Orlando finally settled down and returned his focus to Kate. A sheepish smile crossed his lips before he spoke.
“Sorry about that Love. I usually don’t openly gloat like that.”
“Yes you do,” Kate chuckled softly. “I’ll get you back... eventually.”
After a moment of silently staring at each other, Orlando turned his attention back to the game. He stared at it for a few seconds, before being shocked by the feel of Kate’s lips on his. The kiss was brief and it was over before Orlando had any time to process what was happening.
Kate pulled back quickly.
Orlando closed his eyes and nervously rubbed the back of his neck a few times before finally opening his eyes to focus on Kate once again. After a few moments, he nervously cleared his throat before finding his voice.
“Say, how about a little match on that race car driving game over there? I think I owe you one after the little cheating stunt I just pulled.”
Taking a deep breath to regain her composure, Kate hesitantly raised her eyes to Orlando’s face. Looking into his sincere eyes, she let out a sigh of relief before smiling softly.
“Yeah you’re on, and this time no cheating.”
“It’s a deal.” They smiled softly at each other before finally turning to walk to the other side of the room where the racecar game was set up.
Standing at the doorway, Keira quickly placed a hand over her mouth to prevent the heartbreaking sob from escaping. She stood frozen in place, the tears pouring freely down her face as she watched Orlando and Kate. The image of Orlando’s lips against Kate’s came crashing back to her and she felt another sob form deep in her throat. Closing her eyes in anguish, she felt the intense pain course through her body. Not able to take anymore, she turned away and began a full out run down the hallway. She didn’t care who saw her; all she could concentrate on was getting as far away from that room as possible.
She kept running. Down the various hallways, up four flights of stairs, before finally making it back to her room. With trembling hands it took a few tries to open her door, but once it was open, she ran inside, slamming the door hard behind her. She paced frantically back and forth in the pitch-black room, trying desperately to get her breathing and her emotions under control. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she leaned over to rest her head between her knees. Rocking back and forth frantically, the image of Orlando and Kate kissing came back her once again, and this time she didn’t try to stop the sob from escaping her lips. Letting the tears fall freely down her face, and the sobs rack her body, only one heartbreaking thought stayed in her mind.
She would never be his…

Chapter Seven
The Next Morning…
The commands of Gore Verbinkski could be heard blaring through a bullhorn as he and the crew worked to get the set ready for today’s shoot. Orlando was sitting patiently as Allison, the hairstylist, put the last touches on his hair. Taking this rare moment of relaxation, Orlando closed his weary eyes as a tired sigh escaped his lips. The shoot had been going on for over a month now, and the hectic schedule was taking a toll on everyone. Everyone’s bodies were getting worn down and tempers were easily ignited. Everyone was about ready to go home, including Orlando. He couldn’t wait to go back home, sleep in his own bed, and have some of his mom’s good old fashioned cooking.
“Hey has anyone seen Keira?”
At the sound of her name, the familiar ache returned to Orlando’s heart, and he slowly opened his eyes to see the other hair stylist, Michelle standing nearby. Allison stopped her work briefly to talk to Michelle.
“Come to think of it Michelle, I haven’t seen her at all.”
“She was supposed to be here ten minutes ago for me to start on her hair. She’s never been late before.”
“Well I’m done with Orlando now, so I can help you look for her if you want.”
Just then, a very flustered Niomie ran into the room, holding several hair clips in her hand and not looking too happy at the moment.
“These stupid hair clips keep falling out guys.”
Michelle and Allison quickly guided Niomie over to a nearby chair and began hurriedly fixing her hair once again. It had taken quite awhile to get her hair done, and she was supposed to go film in less than 20 minutes. Time was really going to be tight to fix this. They continued to fight with Niomie’s hair for a few more minutes before Allison spoke up.
“Oh yeah, what about Keira? She still isn’t here yet. Someone needs to go find her.”
Orlando watched as Allison and Michelle slowly raised their eyes to stare pleadingly at him. Leaning back in the chair, he quickly thought about the situation. Niomie’s hair was a mess, and in order for it to be fixed in time it would take both Allison and Michelle to work on it, so that only left one person available to find Keira. Releasing a deep breath, he reluctantly stood up.
“Ok, I’ll go find her for you guys.”
Michelle and Allison both released sighs of relief and on his way by them, Allison lovingly patted his arm.
“I swear you are such a sweetie Orlando.” Looking him over once more, a playful gleam entered her eyes. “Are you sure I can’t take you home for my daughter?”
Scratching the back of his neck, Orlando let out a nervous chuckle before replying.
“Umm, I got enough woman problems as it is….trust me.”
Leaving the room, Orlando slowly began making his way down the hallway. With each room his passed with no sign of Keira, his heart pounded harder. Forcing the feeling of nausea back down, Orlando continued looking for the missing girl. Continuing on with his search, Orlando couldn’t help but think of the past few days.
To the untrained eye, Orlando was perfectly ok. He smiled, he laughed, and he joked around with the others. In every sense he seemed to be his normal self. But he wasn’t. In fact he was far from it. He wasn’t fine, he wasn’t ok…he was dying inside. He had spent the last several days staying intensely busy, whether it was working on his lines, spending time with Kate, just doing anything and everything to keep his mind completely occupied. Because when he stopped, even for one minute, his thoughts went back to Keira. The nights were the worst though. He would lie in bed, and there he couldn’t escape his thoughts. Closing his eyes, he could still see the tears slowly rolling down her cheeks, and the desperate look in her eyes as she pleaded with him to talk to her.
Orlando frantically wiped his teary eyes and swallowed the large lump in his throat. Now wasn’t the place or the time to break down, although a part of him wanted nothing more than to do just that. Passing by an open room, he stopped suddenly at the sight before him. Releasing a shallow breath, he hesitantly took a few steps inside the room and his heart broke at the sight. There was Keira sitting on the floor with her back against the wall, her head between her knees. She looked so small, so vulnerable, and a part of his conscience screamed for him to run over and take her in his arms. The other part of him, the part that contained his thoughts of Kate just wouldn’t let him do that. Clearing his throat, he finally found his voice.
“Keir?”
Hearing his soft voice, Keira slowly raised her head to focus on Orlando. The moment her eyes landed on his, Orlando let out a soft gasp as he felt another sharp pain to his chest. The longer he looked at her, the more concerned he became. She looked terrible, from her shallow breathing, dishelved hair and pale complexion. But her eyes…her eyes scared him more than anything. Those beautiful brown eyes that were known to exuberate happiness and vibrancy were now dull and lifeless. The look in her eyes completely haunted him, and yet he couldn’t tear himself away. Those beautiful eyes that he could stare into for hours were now completely dead, and the realization almost brought him to his knees. Forcing his legs to cooperate with him, he slowly took a few more steps inside the room.
“Keira, are you ok?” Orlando softly whispered, his voice full of concern.
Hearing the question, Keira chuckled loudly, and Orlando couldn’t help but cringe at the complete harshness of it.
“I’m perfectly fine Orlando, and how are you doing?”
Orlando quickly licked his dry lips as he reminded himself how to breathe. This wasn’t the Keira Knightley that he knew and loved. He had never seen her look anything remotely like this and he couldn’t remember ever being more concerned for someone in his entire life.
“What’s wrong Keira?”
Keira laughed bitterly again and Orlando felt another pain shoot through his heart.
“Why do you care Orlando? I’m not your concern, so do me a favor and don’t pretend you care when you obviously don’t.”
“Keira…”
“I’m fine Orlando, ok?”
“I’m just concerned Keira, that’s all.”
Another harsh laugh escaped Keira’s lips as she stared hard at Orlando.
“Like I said Orlando, I’m fine. Go worry about someone else, I don’t know, say…Kate?”
Orlando couldn’t help but wince at the harshness of Keira’s last word. Before he could reply Michelle popped her head into the room.
“There you guys are! Niomies’s hair isn’t as bad as we originally thought, so I thought I would help you find Keira, but I see you already found her.”
Orlando continued to stare intensely at Keira for a few more seconds before softly replying.
“Yeah, I found her...”
Michelle quietly stared back and forth between Orlando and Keira, and even she couldn’t help but notice the thick tension in the room.
“Well, anyway…Keira we’re ready for you down at the hair and makeup room.”
Keira finally looked away from Orlando to focus on Michelle. She put on her best smile, which wasn’t much.
“Thanks Michelle. I’ll be down in a minute.”
Michelle quickly nodded and then she was gone, leaving Orlando and Keira alone again. The tension in the room continued to grow as neither one of them said anything for several moments. Finally, Keira slowly pulled herself up to a standing position. After a few more seconds of staring hard at each other, Keira tore her eyes away and took a few steps towards the doorway. After a few steps Keira slightly stumbled and Orlando’s fear grew even larger. Something was seriously wrong with Keira, he was sure of it.
“Keira…”
Stopping in her tracks, Keira slowly turned her head to look at Orlando once again.
“I’m fine Orlando, Ok? I don’t know how many times I can tell you that.”
Orlando knew her better than anyone, and he knew looking at her right then and there that she was far from being fine. His whole body was screaming at him to do something, anything, but he didn’t know what to do.
Keira quietly watched Orlando as he closed his eyes and struggled to find something to say, and after a few more minutes of silence she softly chuckled, which got Orlando’s full attention.
“No matter what, the show must always go on, right?”
Looking at her sad smile and lifeless eyes once again, Orlando fought hard not to just cry right then and there. Without another word, Keira slowly walked out of the room, leaving Orlando completely alone once again. Sliding down to the floor, Orlando placed his head in his hands as he felt a tear slip down his face. Everything about them was just wrong…completely and utterly wrong, and he had no idea how to even begin to fix it.
The filming went on, and through the entire thing Orlando tried to keep a close eye on Keira. His concern never lessened, in fact in only grew larger as he observed Keira on the set. She smiled, and recited her lines, never breaking character, but he could tell things weren’t right with her. It was as if she was there physically, but her mind was definitely somewhere else. Throughout the day she had flubbed a few lines and missed a few cues, which Gore probably didn’t think twice about, but Orlando most definitely noticed. During costume changes he had tried a few times to talk to Keira, but every time she just brushed him off. Before he knew it the day was over, and as the cast ran off the set they each hurried off to their own dressing room. Deciding to hold off on a shower, Orlando simply changed into a pair of worn out jeans and a sweater. As he was putting on a bandana, Niomie stuck her head in the room.
“Have you seen Keira?”
After tying the bandana Orlando finally turned towards Niomie.
“She’s not in her dressing room?”
“No, and no one has seen her since she ran off set.”
For some unexplainable reason, hearing Niomie’s last remark brought forth a sense of dread in Orlando. He felt a large knot form in his stomach, and trying to keep his composure, he calmly spoke to Niomie.
“Where was she seen last?”
Niomie was slightly taken aback by the evident fear on Orlando’s face. Thinking of Orlando’s question, she slowly replied.
“Umm, I don’t know actually. She couldn’t have gone far, could she?”
Orlando didn’t answer her. Instead he hurried out of the room and quickly began making his way down the hallway. After searching Keira’s dressing room along with everyone else’s, Orlando was beginning to panic. His mind was screaming at him that something was gravely wrong, and he was fighting with everything in him not to break down. He needed to keep his cool and just focus on finding Keira.
After a few more minutes of useless searching, Orlando bumped into a crew member who remembered seeing Keira walking down to one of the bathrooms. Hurrying down the direction the crew member was pointing to, Orlando fought hard to slow his pounding heart. The bathroom door came into view, and the closer he got to it, the larger that sense of dread grew. Stopping at the door, Orlando hesitantly raised a trembling hand and knocked quickly.
“Keira? Love, are you in there? Open up for me, please darling?”
Silence was all that Orlando heard, and after knocking several more times with no answer, he finally tried opening the door. It was locked, and overwhelming fear took over Orlando’s entire body. Stepping back and taking a deep breath, Orlando kicked the door open and stepping inside, he at first didn’t see anything wrong. Turning his head to the left, Orlando’s legs gave out from under him as a loud sob escaped his lips. His entire world crumbled before him as he stared at Keira’s lifeless body sprawled out on the bathroom floor…
