haha, poor Keira. You know they should really invent a phone that can tell when you have a hang over and ring quiter. That would be neet.
Great update, very funny ;D

gracias. Me thinks you are my only reader now, but as long as Hari is reading, it's all good. *winks* Oh, and you were talking about a chapter where nothing happens....
Orlando had already left for the day when I woke up this morning. I hated the fact that the first thought that ran through my head was, ‘Did her go to see Her?’
With a sigh, I checked the clock on the nightstand. Already ten. I needed a shower. I took my time, thankful that I didn’t have to work today. Maybe Sabrina would want to do something. Or I could go and hang out with her and Paul, her husband. And little Alexis of course. I smiled as I got dressed, thinking of that sweet baby. Orlando could spend hours with her and never lose patience or want to give her back. I knew that she was one of the reasons he often hinted about starting a family. But he also knew that I didn’t feel I was ready. So I called Sabrina, only to have Paul’s voice tell me they had gone out for the day. I had just touched the phone to the cradle it rang to life again, still in my hand. I jumped and answered. “Hello?”
“Hey there, sexy.”
I blinked. The male voice on the other end was not one I recognized. “Who is this?”
“I’m hurt. You don’t even recognize your own best friend’s voice?” I heard another male voice yell, “ONE OF her best friends!”
I grinned. “Brennen.”
“Hey love. What’s going on?”
“Nothing. What’s going on with you? You sound different.”
“Clean your ears out, girl. I sound fine.” He laughed. “Miss me?”
I turned around and leaned on the counter. “More than you know. This is a random call.”
“Actually, I was calling…” “To tell you he’s gay.”
I laughed. “Hey Ty. What’s up?” He didn’t get a chance to respond before Brennen took the phone back. “So you’re gay, huh?”
“Tyler’s just being a jerk.” I heard Tyler laughing, then yell as he was shoved. “When’s the movie coming out?”
“Soon. Why?” I frowned. “Brennen, are you calling me to try and score free tickets?”
“No way! Unless…you think I can get some.”
“You’re such a dork.”
“I know. Hey, did you guys set a date yet?”
“Uh huh. We’re shooting for mid-November.”
“Dude! That’s two months away. You guys gonna be ready?”
“Sure we are.” We talked a little while longer and I talked to Tyler for a bit before I hung up. Close to noon now, I didn’t know what to do. So I wandered into the living room. Picking up the remote and plopping down on the couch, I clicked the TV on. “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow. Savvy?” Johnny spoke. I watched the trailer as he and Orlando clashed swords inside the blacksmiths home, then fought together against the skeletal pirates. Keira looked spectacular as she, too, fought, and of course, got the victory kiss from Orlando at the end of the movie. “Pirates of the Caribbean; Curse of the Black Pearl.” The commercial ended and I grumbled as I turned the TV off. Maybe reading would be a better idea.

*spits out coffee* wow, did you lot read my mind?! No joke, there is one in the future!
After showering, I felt so much better than words could describe. I wrapped a towel around myself, then used another towel to dry my hair. Taking the same towel, I wiped the mirror clear of fog and met my own eyes in the mirror. I puffed out my cheeks and tugged at the skin under my eyes. “You look half dead,” I told my reflection. Opening the bathroom door, cool air assaulted me and I shivered, stepping onto the chilly tile floor with my bare feet. “Oh!” I jumped, screaming when I saw Orlando sitting at the table, a mug in his hands. His back was to me, and as he turned, he smiled, then looked away, turning bright red. “What are you doing in my hotel room?!” I dashed into the bedroom, closing the door most of the way. “I…I’m sorry,” he stammered. “You showed me where the key was last night. I came by to see you and assumed you were out when you didn’t answer the door. I let myself in to wait for you.”
Dressing quickly in a pair of jeans and the first sweater my hands found, I stalked out of the bedroom with socks in hand. “Did it ever occur to you that I might be sleeping.” I tried to control my embarrassment as I angrily tugged my socks on. “Or that I might be in the shower!” “I’m sorry.” His apology was quiet and he wouldn’t look at me. This simple action, or lack thereof, actually calmed my nerves a bit and I frowned, letting out a sigh. “I’m sorry for yelling at you.” He nodded, his eyes still locked on the steaming brew in his mug. “You can look at me now you know. I’m dressed.”
He glanced up, his eyes panning over my simple outfit and my wet hair that hung in clumps around my face. Suddenly I felt self conscious and ran my fingers tough my hair. “No, don’t.” He stood partially, and I brought my hand down. “I like your hair like that.” His voice was so gentle, so alluring. “You look so…innocent.”
Try as I might now to, I laughed. “I’m not innocent.”
Smiling as well, he sat back down. “I never said you were innocent love. I said you looked innocent.” He took a sip of his drink. “Thieves aren’t innocent.”
“Thieves?” I blinked. “Who is a thief here?”
His eyes worked their way down from my face and I looked down. “That sweatshirt you’re wearing…that’s mine, O Princess of Thieves.”
“Oh…right.” Quickly, I got up a busied myself in the kitchen. “I see you aren’t denying it.” He was amused. “I’m fine, thanks.” He grinned. “It’s almost two love. A little late for breakfast.”
“Two?” As if things could possibly get more uncomfortable, there was a knock at my door. “Ugh.” Avoiding Orlando’s gaze, I padded to the door and pulled it open, plastering a smile on. “Jer…emy…” He smiled at me, handing me a single red rose. I took it, flustered. “Jeremy it’s beautiful. I don’t know what to say.” I embraced him and kissed his cheek. “Come in, please.”
Wonder how things can get worse, and they will. Orlando got up, awkwardly standing with his hands in his pockets. “Hey,” Jeremy said, obviously surprised. I stood, leaning on the open door, wanting to leave and close it behind me. Instead, I washed a hand over my face, smiled brightly, closed the door and turned around. “What a lucky girl I am today. Two handsome men come to visit me.” They nodded, not looking at each other. I smiled widely at Jeremy. “How was your morning?”
“Fine,” he answered curtly. He glanced at Orlando. Orlando cleared his throat and mimicked my fake smile. “Yes, well, I’m off. Places to go, people to see and such.” In a strange, clumsy manner, he kissed my cheek, glancing at the rose that now sat in a vase on the counter. “I would like to talk to you later, Keira.”
“Of course.”
He now turned to his brother. “Jeremy.”
Jeremy nodded. “See ya.”
Orlando looked at me one more time before leaving me alone with his younger brother.

*breaks into her own song* Can you feel the love tonight? The peace the evening briiiiings..."
Sitting in my car, I tried to sort through everything that was running through my head. Why was Jeremy coming to see Keira at her hotel? And more importantly, why had he brought her a rose? A rose usually signifies interest. Why not a sunflower, or a daisy, or…
I shook my head. What did it matter to me? I was engaged, after all, and since I felt so protective of Keira, who better for her than my little brother? My cell phone sprang to life, singing out the theme of “Return of the King”. Picking it up, I pushed the call button. “Hello? Ah, Gary! How are you? Yes, I believe we both did. No, no…she has no idea. Yes, the premier is tomorrow night. Excellent. Very good sir. We will see you then. Bye.” I hung up and dropped the phone into the passenger seat. Where to now? I had planned on spending some time with Keira, and now that she was otherwise engaged, I had some time to kill. So I decided to see what my baby sister was up to. When I found her alone at home, she jumped all too early at the idea of going shopping. “What are we going shopping for?” she asked as she climbed into the passenger seat. I shrugged and pulled out into traffic. “Something to wear tomorrow night." She blinked, her jaw dropping as she looked at me. “I know that you are not telling me that you don’t know what you’re wearing to the premier party tomorrow night. Because that would just be, like…like…” “Like me?”
“Yes!” she sat back, exasperated. “Orlando! What were you thinking?” I shrugged, trying not to smile. She shook her head. “Alright, that’s fine. We can find something. I can’t believe you.”
She sputtered all the way into town, and was still once we were finally looking at clothes. “I’m just going to go with jeans.” She threw me a look that told me I was wrong, so I shrugged and went back to looking around. “What about this?” I held up a black leather jacket. She wrinkled her nose and turned away. I slung it over my arm, deciding to buy it anyway. At least two hours later and on the sixth trip to the dressing room, she slung a blue dress shirt over the door. “Try this with that sweater.” I cringed, but did as I was asked just to keep her quiet. “I would really be more comfortable in jeans and…” “Orlando, it’s out of the question.” I stepped out of the dressing room in brown trousers three inches too long, a black sweater with the blue dress shirt underneath, and looked at myself in the mirror. “That looks okay.” She walked around me, inspecting, straightening, and mumbling. “I look like…hey.” I walked over to a nearby counter and grabbed a pair of tennis shoes. Turning to look at her, I grinned. “Who do I look like?”
She covered her mouth, giggling. “Like a younger, English Mr. Rogers.” This sent us both into fits of laughter, warranting dirty looks from an elderly man who was shopping nearby. “Go change.”
I did, putting my own clothes back on. The dressing room attendant took the armful of clothes that I decided against, and Jill and I went to check out. “What have you got there?” Nosey as usual, she inspected the things I had decided to keep. “Orli, it’s all casual stuff.” I shrugged, handing my things to the cashier. “And what is this?” She picked up a red belt with a white stripe in the center. “It’s not like it’s a formal party or anything, Jill.” I watched as my purchases were rung up and I gave the woman my credit card. “It’s not prom.” She stuck her tongue out at me as I signed the slip, and we left. “I wonder what KiKi is going to wear,” she said absently as we were driving. “How should I know? And why do you call her KiKi?”
“I don’t know.” She narrowed her eyes at me. “Why are you freaking out?”
“I’m not freaking out. Freaking out about what?”
“How should I know?” she repeated, mimicking me. “It was just a question. Sheesh.”
“Sorry,” I said lamely. “I suppose I’m a but confused.”
“What about?”
I thought a moment. “Is Jeremy interested in her?”
“Who, Keira? I don’t think so. Why?”
“He went to see her at her room today.” I frowned. “And he brought her a rose.”
“Really?” This surprised her. “Huh…hey, drop me off at her place then, will ya?”
I glanced at her. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah, why not?” I pulled into the hotel parking lot and she leaned over to give me a quick kiss before jumping out of the car. “Don’t worry big brother. I’ll get the scoop for you.” With a grin, she closed the door and waved before disappearing inside.

*sniffles, opens mouth, inserts foot*
Jeremy took the can of soda I handed to him and I sat with my cup of tea across from him at the table. “So tell me more about this tryout you’re going to.”
He lifted the metal tab, the soda hissing as it was opened. Taking a sip, he sighed. “Well, The three guys who decide who’s on the team or not are flying out to Vermont next week and me and I think four other guys are going to be doing our thing for them.”
“Is this just for snowboarding?” I took a small sip of my tea. And he shook his head. “Skiing too.”
I nodded, impressed. “Jeremy, that’s really brilliant. I’m so proud of you. Just to get them to come out to see you must be something in and of itself.”
He nodded shyly, obviously not wanting to talk anymore about himself. “So what about you, Miss Knightly?” I smirked, looking down into my cup. “What’s been going on with you? I mean, other than being in every magazine, on TV, commercials…” “Blah, blah, blah,” I interrupted. We both laughed. “It’s been busy,” I admitted. “But it has been nice to stay here and relax. If only for a little while.”
He tilted his head, looking into my eyes. “Why do you sound so sad?” I shrugged, but he wouldn’t take that for an answer. “Keira, you know you can talk to me. Right?”
I chewed on my lip, looking into eyes that were so much Like his brothers, yet so different as well. Yes, I knew I could trust Jeremy, but at what cost? He brought me a rose, which tells me that he is thinking of me as more than a friend. If I tell him about my feelings for Orlando, it would only crush his hopes. “Keira?”
I snapped out of my thoughts and smiled. “Of course I know I can trust you.” “Good.” He reached across the table and caught my hand, his thumb tenderly rubbing my finger. At that instant, there was a knock on the door. I jumped up, thankful for the interruption, Opening the door, I was surprised to see Jill standing there. “Hey babe,” she said, sliding past me. “Hey Jer.”
“Hey.” He looked at me, confused, then at her. “What are you doing here?”
She went into the kitchen and helped herself to a soda, then sat down at the table. “Ugh, Orli and I had a fight about what he was going to wear tomorrow night and he kicked me out of his car.”
Frowning, I glanced at Jeremy. “That doesn’t sound like him.”
He returned my doubting gaze. “Not, it doesn’t.” Looking back at his sister, he raised an eyebrow. “And how convenient that he dropped you off here.”
“Isn’t it?” she asked, a little too enthusiastically. “So Kiki, what are you wearing tomorrow?” Jeremy and I looked at each other, and she looked from one of us to the other. “Am I interrupting something?”
“Nope.” Jeremy stood. “I should get going anyway.” Jill smirked, grabbing a cookie off the plate in the center of the table and nibbling it. “Aw, Jeremy, it seems like you just got here.” I stood as well and welcomed the embrace he offered. “Yeah, well, I should get some more practice time in before it gets dark. And besides, I’m not good at girlie stuff.”
I smiled and kissed his cheek lightly. “Well we will have to do something before I leave. Just the two of us.”
He opened the door and met my eyes. “I’d like that.” He looked now at Jill. “Later sis.”
“Later bro.”
lol. How can anyone not love the little sister that Orlando doesn't even really have? o.O
I went home to an empty house. Tossing my keys on the kitchen table, I snatched a note from the refrigerator. “Orlando, I went out for a little while. If you need me, call my cell. I love you. Ari.” Sighing, I looked around. I wasn’t one that liked to be alone often. I was happiest when people were around me. And an empty house held no allure for me. As I hung my new clothes in the closet, I heard the phone ring downstairs. Taking them two at a time, I got to the phone before the answering machine got to it. “Sorry. Hello?”
“Hey, it’s me.” It was Jeremy. “Oh hi.”
“Were you running?” “No, upstairs.”
“Oh.” He paused. “You weren’t…uh…in the middle of anything, were you? I mean, I didn’t interrupt or anything?”
“No, no. I have the house to myself for a bit it seems. “hmm, actually, that’s better. Mind if I come over?”
“Not at all.” The front door opened. “Well, actually, I think Ari just got back.”
“Naw, it’s me.” I turned to see Jeremy grinning at me, tucking his cell phone away. I smirked and hung up. “I was already here.”
“What would you have said if I was busy?”
He shrugged. I would have drove off.”
“Want something?”
“No.” We went into the living room and sat. He fidgeted, looking slightly uncomfortable. “I heard you and Jilly got in a fight.”
I blinked. “Did you?”
“Yeah, something about clothes.”
“Yes.” I chuckled. “We just don’t see eye to eye on everything…well, anything actually.” We both laughed, and he looked at the floor. I leaned forward, lacing my fingers together. “What’s going on, Jeremy?”
He pursed his lips together for a moment, then shook his head, laughing softly. “I don’t know why I’m so nervous to ask you this.”
Now I pursed my lips. “Ask me what?”
“Well, I know that you and Keira are pretty tight, and…I don’t know. Forget it.” He stood to leave but I frowned at him. “Wait Jeremy. What’s going on?”
He sat back down with a sigh. “I was going to ask you if it would bother you if I asked her out.”
Alarms went off in my head. Everything in me wanted to say yes, but when I opened my mouth, I said,” Why would it bother me?”
He looked up, meeting my gaze. “Really?” There was surprise written all over his face. “Keira is very dear to me,” I told him. “And I wouldn’t trust anyone with her but myself. But you’re a close second.” What the heck was I saying?! “Wow, I thought for sure you were going to tell me to get real or something.”
Yeah, bugger off! “I would never do that, Jeremy.” He stood, an obvious weight lifted from him. “Well, okay, I’m going to get going then. Good luck tomorrow.”
“Yeah, thanks.” When he was gone, I kicked the end of the table in frustration, then immediately wished I hadn’t. A pain shot up my entire leg and I fell on the couch, howling. As if I needed more things to worry about.

“I thought about going with this.” Jill looked over the outfit I laid out on the bed. She chewed on her lip, finally nodding. “Yeah?”
“It’s very casual.”
“It’s wear whatever you want pretty much.”
“It works then. You’re going to show off your tummy.” She poked my stomach and we both laughed, going back out into the living room. “I guess Orli’s outfit was fine then after all. He picked casual stuff too.” I nodded. “So what’s up with you and Jeremy?”
“Nothing.”
“You said that way too quick, Kiki. Come on. What’s the deal?”
I sat on the arm of the chair, then slid back to sit in the middle of it. “I don’t know myself, really. I think he’s interested in me.”
“Wow, ya think? Orli told me he brought you a rose.” I pointed to the kitchen and she looked to see the vase. “Do you like him?”
Shrugging, I played with my nail. “I never thought about it to be honest with you.” I met her gaze. “He’s terribly sweet.” She nodded, that same smile they all had starting to tug at the corners of her mouth. “And he’s only three years older than I am.”
“And he’s not engaged.”
I looked back down. “And he’s not engaged.” My voice was low. “I love him, Jill.”
She blinked. “Jeremy?”
I laughed and whined at the same time. “No, not Jeremy. Orlando.”
“I know babe.” She looked at me with sympathy. “And who knows what your future has in store for you. But the present has Orli engaged, and a very single, very sweet, very caring Jeremy has interest in you.”
“So what are you telling me?”
“I’m telling you not to close the door to your options. If you are Orli are meant to be, then eventually it will be. Until then…” “I should play the field?”
She giggled. “I wouldn’t exactly put it like that, but…yeah, I guess.”
I took a deep breath. “I love you Jill. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
She grinned. “I love you too Kiki. And you’d go insane and end up tearing all your hair out.” She stood. “Feeling okay enough for some food?”
“Yeah, I think I can eat a little something.”
“Come on then. I’m starved.”
“You’re always hungry. You’re not pregnant are you?” She threw me a dirty look and I smiled innocently as I opened the door.

*falls over laughing* you're the second person who has said that to me!
“Baby, I’m home!” I closed the door quietly, hearing some sort of muffled cry from the living room. I took slow steps down the hall and peeked around the corner. “Orlando!” He was on his side on the couch, holding his leg with a look of agony on his face. I threw my purse down and went to his side, getting on my knees to see his face pressed into the cushion. “What happened?”
“I’m a idiot,” was his muffled reply. “Why? What did you do?”
He took several breaths before turning his head to look at me. “I just walked into the corner of the table and got my shin is all.”
I cringed. “Ouch. Want me to look at it?”
He groaned and sat up, trying to grin through the obvious pain he felt. “I’m alright, love.” Taking a deep breath, he smiled and pulled me up on the couch beside him. “How was your day?” He placed a gentle kiss on my lips. “It was okay. Pretty uneventful.” I glanced at his leg. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m sure.” He kissed me again. “Really.”
“Alright.” I frowned, not believing him, but not wanting to press the matter anymore. “I got up to hang my coat up. “Brennen and Ty called today.”
“Ah yes, the elusive best friends. Am I ever going to get to meet them?”
I went back into the living room and sat down next to him. “Of course you are. Actually, I was thinking about telling them to come up soon.” I turned him so his back was to me and started rubbing his shoulders. He closed his eyes and let his head fell forward. “They’re nervous about meeting you, I think.”
“If anyone should be nervous, it would have to be me.”
I wrinkled my brow. “Why should you be nervous?”
“All three of you have known each other since you could play in the sandbox, love.” He turned to me, gently stroking my cheek. “If they don’t like me, I’m done for.”
I smiled and kissed his hand. “You’re going to marry me, not them.” Leaning forward, I kissed him softly, then rested my head on his chest. “I saw Jeremy leaving as I was pulling into the driveway. How’s he doing?”
At this, he seemed to stiffen. “Ah, he’s good. He wanted to know what I thought about him taking Keira out.”
I sat up and blinked. “Like out on a date?” He nodded and I tried to read his blank expression. “How do you feel about that?”
He shrugged and reached for a magazine from the coffee table. “It’s fine.”
“Oh.” I watched him leaf through some of the pages, not really reading. “And is Keira interested in him?”
“Wouldn’t surprise me. He’s a good looking guy.” Putting the magazine back, he grinned at me. “Just look at his brother.” I smiled briefly, then watched as he stood and disappeared into the kitchen. Huh, I thought. If Keira was interested in Jeremy, then this whole thing with Orlando was probably just my imagination. I let go of a huge sigh of relief. Life was still good. And I knew it was going to stay that way.
